I thought it would be timely for me pop up my review of the Priority Pass lounge in Hong Kong (HKG) airport now that amazing 17,000+ MQM Elite Mileage run deals are back once again. I would encourage you to consider this one, well not the one on top as you get off the escalator,
nor this one at the end of the corridor as that is not the right one either,
but THAT one, that is the correct one if you happen to hold a Priority Pass card from credit cards like the:
The Platinum Card® from American Express <—LINK
or
The Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN <—LINK
The reason I suggest this lounge vs. the one Delta Skyteam elite+ GM or higher have access to in any class of service is location, is the view and similar if not slightly superior food choices. Either way they are about 10-15 minutes apart from each other should you wish to check them both out on a long layover or turn.
Just left of the entrance first you find bench table seating if you have a larger group with you
As well as some interesting cubical individual seating that seemed rather comfortable if not all that private.
You also have access to a computer should you want to look up something that does not require you putting in any of your own personal data!
Lastly there was a large open bar area that was blocked off. Maybe due to the fact that we were there early in the morning was the reason why and maybe readers can comment if they have been here late in the day and found this space open?
Right behind check-in are magazine racks for you to take with you as well as cereal, coffee and juices as well as a Carlsberg beer tap (a nice Scandinavian choice IMO).
Right of check-in you first run into a sweets table. Perfect if you wish to sugar load your kids before a 14+ hour flight? 😉
The rest of the lounge is really open concept with great views. This is one of the main reasons I like this club so much more than the “grotto” feel of the Skyteam club – I want a view of the jets and I bet you do too.
Really the food choices in the two clubs were very similar. I felt like the catering folks who provided for the Skyteam lounge also took care of this one but there were subtle differences.
There was also Tea, noodle and soup station at the far end of the lounge that I did not test due to the early AM flight. Overall this really is a nice lounge and worth a visit. I like the “feel” of the lounge and what is provided. It would be interesting to return later in the day to see what is provided at that time of day.
You tell me, have you visited this Priority Pass lounge? Did you enjoy your time here? Is it better than the Skyteam option? – René

Did enjoy my stay there, the open concept and windows/natural light is a huge advantage over the dungeon feel of the Skyteam lounge.
Menu doesn’t really change later in the day; I’ve stayed overnight here before.
It can be quite a comfortable with good food selection, decent internet connection and other amenities. I spent 6 hours on a layover once at this lounge and it was perfectly fine to get some work done and stomach full.
The only downside, though, the lounge can be very crowded and check in line may take 10+ minutes.
I was there 19 Jan. They seemed to be discouraging use of the shower, but allowed me to use it upon direct request. Overall it was an above-average Priority Pass lounge, in my judgment.
Heading to HK this Spring on CX. How is this lounge compare to The Wing business lounge?
Dear René,
The ‘interesting cubical seating’ you refer to is our Plaza Premium’s signature honeycomb seating which allows more privacy for airport travellers, either for work or leisure. As such, chance for others to directly look at our guests’ computer screen is much reduced.
As for the large open bar area, this is reserved for First Class, Business Class travellers of, and those invited by selected airlines, including Swiss, Turkish Airlines, Finnair, Virgin Atlantic, Qatar, El Al Israel Airlines to name a few. This reserved area would offer smoked salmon, cheese, wine and spirits, desserts (including macaron from time to time), and kosher food during certain period as pre-arranged with airlines. This exclusive area is also open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
@Edward – Thanks for reading the blog and your updates!
This is a rookie question, but at the skyteam lounge in HK do they supply towels, shampoo and soap? I am doing this run in march and I have sky club access but not priority pass. Thank you
@Paul – Yep. Everything you need. Assuming you can wait if there is a line of folks wanting to use the shower. See: https://www.skyteam.com/en/lounges/hongkong/
did visit and used the shower facilities on a MR 2 years ago.. The dimsum at 4 am was good… too
