I have another post on the way this morning but have so many tiny updates it seems better to dump all these into a quick update post.
The first one is that the announced (but delayed) 250 MQM per stay Hilton offer is now live. You must register and you MUST follow the directions to be set to get the MQMs. I would hate for someone to be counting on these few points to make some elite level and not get it.
Next up we have an update for the outstanding news that broke back in May that soon your +1 (on the same reservation or PNR) will have a chance to upgrade to both C+ seats with you and 1st class seats as well on your medallion level. There have been unsubstantiated rumors that Delta is changing what has been published. I very much doubt that and any walk-back of what is in print would be very bad. Either way, at this point, the only news we know is we still have to wait a bit longer for the program changes to begin. Yes, it is already fall. Yes, I hate waiting too.
Next up I have a question and if you are not into mileage runs this is not for you. I have been tinkering with all kinds of ways to get creative mileage runs to work. One of them I have found that really is nice is Priceline. It can stitch together some stuff that will not ticket any other way. Also, with the “prev” button it is simple to change dates you want. Now here is the question – do you mind booking mileage runs via Priceline? Clearly you can get credit and insert your Delta FF number. The other reason is I can get a few bucks when folks book via my Priceline link and would help offset the time it takes to find all these fun runs. Some feedback please.
Lastly we have more changes to the look of the blog. Desktop use by readers is now dwindling to a tiny fraction of the views each day. I work on the blog on a desktop but I too read the blog (and other blogs) on my phone or tablet. The current setup with a “side bar” is for a look that no one sees and is not helpful for the speed of loading when on a mobile platform. The bottom line is change to my blog theme needs to happen before the end of the year (shooting for before the end of November when the blog is 5 years old). I hope this will have a huge and positive impact on your user experience. – René
PS – Don’t forget about the AMAZING 70k SkyMiles plus 10K MQMs Delta AMEX card offer ending soon!

Normally I only buy my tickets directly from Delta. I only use the OTAs as tools to find my fares and routes.
No worries on the price line link. As long as I get credit for trip, I don’t mind
I still use a laptop to read your email/blog – it’s easier.
Do you have a full article RSS feed? I usually view the blog through Feedly, but only snippets appear.
@Luca – see http://www.RenesPoints.com/rss
Rene – was on the line with a Delta CSR who “upgraded” my wife and I (on same PNR) to Comfort on a long haul from SEA-AMS as a courtesy given the delay in implementing in the new +1 upgrade rules. He said it was still coming and that the delay was, as you might guess, Delta IT-related.
@Bronson – Yep. Now did you push to put you both on UG list as well 😉
He stated that there are no complimentary upgrades on long hauls, so didn’t push it. Was happy for the bump up that I got, but disappointed that Platinum status seems not to matter much for international travel.
@Bronson – Oh sorry missed AMS part
What would help viewing your site on a laptop would be for you to create a small logo, instead of taking up 75% of the browser real estate with that huge banner… thank God for the Inspect Element Ad Block Plus addon…
@Kevin – one of 100 issues to fix. yes.
I tried the Hilton delta promo last year. I guess I didn’t Follow the rules and was denied the mqms I needed to reach my medallion level I contacted Hilton several times and even went up their chain with no luck. I was denied every time. Even to this day I will have nothing to do with Hilton.
