I love starting a Q of the year out with some great bonus point offers that net make me money. First off the simple directions. I have talked often about how AMEX offers to you can save you money on your annual fee for cards. If you log in to your account with a number of browsers you can register the offers presented to you to each card you hold (if not they go away once you click / register one card). I hold 4 AMEX cards and will be saving $60 (before costs) on the offer above. I have not decided exactly what I will buy, but it will likely include a visit to the gift card rack in the store (see TWG post on what cards are on the rack).
Next up we have the new Q for the Freedom card. Make sure you register your card first for this Q’s offer before you start any spending. For me a quick visit to my local CVS and I am done with the spend for the year. Simple, quick and easy I like.
Lastly, since so many hotel points now are flexible moving 3:1 or even at great value 1:1 I will be swinging by my local Simons Mall for a quick visit since I am in the area.
Any of today’s post seem confusing to you? I hope not but if it is you really should right now make plans for next week as it is final call to attend the Chicago Seminars that starts on the 14th. I will be speaking twice Friday night but you will want to attend all weekend long!
Happy free points Monday everyone! – René

Rene, when I look at the offerings I have for my Amex platinum card, there is a $10 cash back for $200 spend on Amex gift cards and a separate pay no fees or shipping charges for ordering Amex gift cards through Amex. This is hard to admit but I’m not a fan of gift cards because of one bad experience. And, I’m a little leery because of all the fine print. My children handle gift cards quite well so this might be a way to give them Christmas cash instead of the checks I usually write them. Any advice?
@Sarah – I have done that offer many times. The steps are:
.
1) Start at a cash back portal like TopCashBack and buy cards under $200 as you show.
2) Start the 90 day free shipping trial (just be SURE, I MEAN SURE, to cancel before 90 days to not be billed)
3) Enjoy cash back from portal, cash back from AMEX Offers to You.
.
Will the no fee code wipe out the portal bonus ie for using codes? Maybe but worth the extra click IMO. Either way you get free points and money at less than face value.
