Minneapolis MSP Delta Sky Club C gates RenesPoints Blog Review (3)

If you are looking for a classic-looking lounge then this may be the one for you and it really has a ton of features I like in a club. Location is just about across from the tram stop so you can take it from the central terminal area one stop or from the other regional jet gates the other way.

You can get in with a number of AMEX cards or, if you are a SkyTeam elite plus status and are on a coach or anyone on a business class international departing (or connecting) ticket, you can also get in free.

The layout is in an L shape with decent views of the airport. Much better than the non-view at the main Sky Club but nothing like the views of the Escape Lounge (non-Delta).

Left of the entrance is check-in and straight ahead is a dedicated customer service desk. Works well to not have those scanning you also fixing ticket issues but also can fix overflow when many arrive at once. I like this type of setup rather than a split area.

Minneapolis MSP Delta Sky Club C gates RenesPoints Blog Review (5)

Immediately to your left, you have a small cutout area in the L shape with a TV and reading room.

Right behind customer service is a large room with a snack and service bar in the middle of the room.

Much like the DTW clubs that have this island service it does prevent overcrowding at the real food and snack area and considering how tiny it is this is wise. More below.

Starting our way left down the L you have overflow seating from the main central area with more runway views. Seats are classic old-school Delta / NWA that have been around for years. This club is due for a refresh but no idea when that may happen. Power will be found either on outlets on the floor or in the table next to your seat.

Then we have an office cube area. I really like this vs the main Sky Club that has open clear semi-dividers. This is much more PVT and you can get work done without feeling like everyone is looking at you. If you have a long layover and need this space go to this club.

Unless broken, like every Sky Club in the system, you will find an internet-equipped printer for sending print jobs to. No risk of logging in to a public CPU to print just send the job over. And shred what was printed wrong. 🙂

Minneapolis MSP Delta Sky Club C gates RenesPoints Blog Review (14)

There are no showers at ANY of the lounges at MSP. Only at the XpresSpa will you find those for a fee (central area). You can, however, if you came to the airport in your jammies, enjoy a dressing room?

Minneapolis MSP Delta Sky Club C gates RenesPoints Blog Review (15)

At the end of the club are the food service, self-service bar, and common TV area. This means no entrance under 21 unless accompanied by an adult.

Minneapolis MSP Delta Sky Club C gates RenesPoints Blog Review (16)

There is a fireplace and table seating and this can be nice on some of those cold winter days in MSP.

Minneapolis MSP Delta Sky Club C gates RenesPoints Blog Review (17)

I visited this club during breakfast hours and you will get the standard Sky Club continental lite breakfast choices you see above and below

Minneapolis MSP Delta Sky Club C gates RenesPoints Blog Review (20)

As well as the stock mixed drink choices and house wines (normally two red choices and one white). No sparkling wines like the Escape lounge offers.

Minneapolis MSP Delta Sky Club C gates RenesPoints Blog Review (18)

Also now a nice feature in the clubs is a local or seasonal beer in addition to some kind of SkunkyBeer.

Overall this is a nice lounge. I would take it over the main renovated club any day due to the views, the features, and so much more you see above. It shows an old-school lounge still works and works well but could use some modern tweaks and more power spots.

I would simply boil it down to this. If you have limited time, and have a Priority Pass, go to the Escape Lounge. If you have a long time and need to get some work done and chill at a classic lounge – come here! – René

Sorry but after the Escape Lounge was open at MSP I never visited any of the Delta lounges there. The Escape Lounge has better food and beverages, it is quiet and has a nice view of the tarmac.

Fireplaces are a nice touch. They provide a homey or lodge-like feel. Outside of the handful of Skyclubs (erstwhile Worldclubs) that sport this feature, the Qantas B, not F, club at LAX is the only other club with a fireplace that comes to mind.

@John – I really agree. To me it makes it feel much more “club like” when there are touches like this. Thanks for your comment.

Beer taps are BACK! They were removed as part of a refurb earlier this year. Was just in there last night – 9/23/2016. Still has some bottled in the fridges under the hard alcohol, too.
