Delta Sky Club Minneapolis MSP Central Concourse Review

Yes it is embarrassing I have not yet finished all the reviews for the DTW & MSP clubs. Time to catch up and start with the centrally located Minneapolis club just to the left when you exit security.

I have a number of thoughts about this club but will save them for the end of the post. One thing to notice right away is the entrance is tucked away a bit and it is easy to miss it. Also, the entrance area can get crowded at times with lines out the door as well as folks exiting via this small-ish area. Keep this in mind.

You can get in with a number of AMEX cards or, if you are a Skyteam elite plus status and are on a coach or anyone on a business class international departing (or connecting) ticket, you can also get in free.

Due to the space constraints, if you need help, don’t ask those at check-in. Right around the corner are (usually) additional reps to help with ticket issues.

Now turning your back to check-in you have lavatories to the right but no showers. I have talked to Delta folks about this and they are aware that this is disappointing for such a major Delta international hub but they are space constrained. More on this later. Here is a panoramic overview of the layout.

In a nutshell it is one large room and one at ground floor with no AVgeek views. Much natural light due to the solarium type windows but outside is nothing to look at.

Now forward and right of the entrance to the club is an open area for laptop work and includes what is standard in almost all Sky Clubs, that is, a network (internet) printer and shredder.

The work area continues into the central area of the club. I prefer a more private work area and you can find that in the other club in MSP.

The above is one of the best views of the club. The seats have been updated to Delta “IKEA” new with power everywhere. Really a smart upgrade to all the clubs since we are all power hungry.

At the very far end of the club is a nice private-ish quiet area. If the club is really crowded go here and see if this spot is better. The only downside to this area is that the exit door is where Delta people come in and out and that can be irritating.

In the center of the club, just left past the check-in desk is the current location for food service that is rather cramped for such a large sized club. I have been told this area will soon be moved right of the bar and expanded. I hope we also see better choices like the JFK or ATL clubs.

Another issue with this club and the current setup is the bar area tends to get very crowded and just getting a drink can take time. As is standard with Sky Clubs with a “luxury bar” well drinks and beer are complimentary but premium drinks are an upcharge.

Right of the bar is table seating to enjoy your soup, snacks and such. Again, expect this area to be remodeled soon.

This last shot was taken during another visit and is often what you can expect in this club, that is, crowds. Of all the Delta clubs in the system I have found this to be one of the most crowded period.

Overall this is a nice club but I would only go here if I had no other choice. I like the other Sky Club much more for work and the bar is self service in that one. Beyond that, if you have access, the MUCH better choice is the non-Delta Escape lounge right around the corner from this club (and upstairs). – René
