Look here between N & S connector

One of the things I was told I had to do before my flight home was to visit the Narita NRT outside observation deck. I am happy I did and it helps when it is a glorious day outside to sit and enjoy jets taking off and landing.

As you can see from the above map it is located in Terminal 1 between the north and south connector. Find the escalators and walk straight ahead. Do pay attention to the fact that this is land side, that is, PRE security so you can only visit either after you land and enter Japan or before you depart.

Only in Japan?

If you go left you may pass some giant sized bobble head dolls outside a store on the way. Just too funny from my western perspective.

Depending on what time of the year you visit it, the deck opens at either 6:30 or 7:AM and closes each day at 9:PM.

The deck is expansive and when we were there early in the morning there was almost no one on the deck. We were also there so early there were few jets landing and taking off but we got to enjoy more plane spotting later on in the Sky Club that I will review soon.

Hello Delta jets!

But it really is all about the view. For security reasons there is tall metal fencing that does take away from the view a bit when you sit back on the deck.

But much less so when you get up close and enjoy the sights of the airport. I love being outside and feeling a part of the airport. This is one of the reasons the Delta Sky Decks are such a fantastic idea and I am happy they are adding more of these (and hope they add more at other airports as well).

Next up, right next door to the observation deck, a review of the IASS Priority Pass lounge. It may be the most disappointing lounge I have ever visited. – René

HI Rene….great review as usual! I passed through Narita on a J class flight to Singapore a few months back and was happy with Delta again.

I have a question that I could not find an answer for elsewhere, so apologize in advance for posting here. Specifically, I fly full fare J on Int’l flights and have been Diamond for last 4 years since starting with DL out of PDX. I was 360 too, but lost that last year when I slipped to platinum for a few months…but I am diamond again already this year. My question: I think MDQ should roll over too, like miles. I have spent $60K so far in 2016 on airfare, and I think it is fair that the excess roll into my 2017 MDQ total. Am I way off base with that? I mean I have crushed their annual reqt so they got the minimum they want….why not reward me since next year my job situation could change but I would remain loyal to DL when the travel budget returns.

Interested in your thoughts. By the way, what the heck kind of great job do you have which allows you to jet set like a maniac??

Keep up the good work, my friend….hope to meet you in a club one day!

@Kevin Y – Oh I would love to chat DL360 one day with ya. Here is the issue with rollover MQD. Delta does not care at ALL about that and your drop is case in point. It is only what you have done for me lately or even TODAY. What you did yesterday is forgotten and over and done. 40 years of loyalty is worthless as it does nothing for mothership and stock options. 🙁
