Welcome to a weekly feature on the Eye of the Flyer blog. Each week this series covers in a “rookie” way either a Delta or travel related theme and attempts to break down to a basic level each topic. You can read up on all the previous posts HERE. Now on to this week’s feature.

Most of us who travel are tech savvy. We use the Fly Delta APP and know the features inside and out even as far as tracking our inbound jets and what gate we will arrive at and so on. Others use tools like TripIt to help manage their travels. When it comes to points I love my AwardWallet <-LINK and it helps me with my points but also with trips (especially hotel stays).
But that is for us. What about our loved ones / friends who may need notice about our trip and especially so if things are delayed or worse (say a diversion). Well Delta has a sweet tool that is quick to use and gives others notice if things go “wonkie” for you along the way.

It is super simple and since you can even access Delta.com via Gogo free you could do this once up in the air. Just plug in the date, choose arrival or departure, the flight number and the email you want to notify. Want a copy yourself? You can add another email to alert at the same time. – René

Well….I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve seen the “one time notification” and wondered why I would want to be notified one time? I’ve completely ignored it. Nice little tip if there’s a delay and someone is picking you up.
