At the beginning of last month I blogged about both the new 2017 Delta choice benefit choices for Diamonds as well as the loading of the new Delta digital HOOU or Have One On Us digital coupons. Digital seems so much better than paper right? Well keep in mind as I have shown you about increased chances for bumps, killing trees is always smarter when flying Delta and it turns out the same is true for your Digital HOOU coupons. Take a look:
Both inside the Fly Delta APP as well as on Delta.com they warn you that if you plan to use your Digital HOOU coupon on a CRJ200 that has NO 1st class seats (or C+ seats for that matter) then you must print your coupon before you fly to be able to use it. And after all, that is one of the main places most elites will want to use these coupons!
I suggest you print it from Delta.com because, since we all know how amazing fabulous spectacular buggy Delta IT can be if you bring it up inside the APP and cannot immediately use it, it could go away.
Heck, according to this Flyertalk thread they are simply vanishing without any input on our part now and then as of late so it may be smart to print them ALL as backup inside Delta.com (once again, smart to kill tress when you fly Delta)!
I still have a rather large stack of HOOUs that expire on 31DEC16 from a very kind reader who donated them before being kicked out of Skybonus this year so let’s make this a giveaway day. I will use Random.org later tonight and pick 5 winners and mail them (US address only) each 2 Delta HOOU coupons. Just tell me, either way, if you knew that you must print your digital HOOU before you fly on a CRJ200! – René

Had no idea. Will need this for a flight in June with no C+ or first. Thanks.
Nope, didn’t know!
No
YES, I did see the fine print
Yes, I knew only after learning the hard way and not being able to utilize the digital version on a previous CRJ200 flight.
Another one to tuck away in the “things I did not know about Delta” (hard copies only) file cabinet! Thanks, Rene!
No, hadn’t really paid attention to that. Thanks for the news and reminder!
Had no idea
I did not know. But now I do!
I did not know. Thanks for the heads-up.
I didn’t now, but makes sense
No clue. Although living in Atlanta for the last 4 years has allowed me to avoid the CRJ200’s for, well, the last 4 years.
Nope
I didn’t, but glad not to have to learn the hard way…
Yeah, I only knew from reading various blog posts.
Had no clue! Though, have also never had the of flying on one…
Never knew
I had no idea. Thankfully I don’t fly on the torture tube that often.
Had no idea. Thanks for the info, as always.
No idea! Defeats the purpose of being digital. L
Didn’t know, but assumed same “rules” applied as keeping hard cards for status, SkyClub, printed tickets (learned that once the hard way on an international flight, fortunately still on the U.S. side of MSP-CDG, but lesson learned!!!!!), and such together when on the road — seems like a good idea, and faster/easier to NOT trust Delta IT (or having a phone/internet connection) when you need/want to present any of the above…I keep all mine together on a lanyard, as suggested (OK, a keyring was suggested, but I had a bunch of lanyards and zip-lock ID card pockets from work laying around…) Wait, what was the question again? Oh, yeah. No, I didn’t.
Of course I didn’t. That’s why I read this blog. Thx R
I knew that. It’s really stupid, and another example of Delta asking us to do even more work to realize the promised benefits of elites status.
No. I read it and promptly forgot.
Nope, no clue they needed to printed.
No. I read that but promptly forgot.
I did not
I did not know this.
i had no idea. more to the point, why drink and add to the chance you might have to use those lavs!
Had no idea, but it makes sense.
On the CRJ 200, they only take cash.
Didn’t know. Thanks
I did not know that….
I did not have any idea that you should print them.
Nope! I had no clue!
No, I didn’t know. I’m always learning something new from you….
Nope…had no clue. Thank you for the valuable info
Didn’t know but figured I would have to since they only accept cash.
I never trust the e coupons anyway. But I didn’t know
Ps. MRriot sweetened the pie and bought SPG hotels. Taking the offer away from the Chinese
I did not know, but thankfully, any CRJ200 or ERJ145 flights I take are pretty short.
I did not know. Thank you! Once again, you are a Delta FF’s best friend!
of course i had no idea. i’m sure that’s intentional since the bean counters know that if we don’t see it, revenues are likely to go up. #ascendingrevenues
I happened to run across it when reviewing the terms the other day, but this post is a great reminder as to the remaining value of paper!
I did not know.
Nope, didn’t know! Just another reason I love this blog!
I SURE did not know that and I am booked in early June on a CRJ with No comfort+, no comfort period!
Never would have known! Thank goodness we read your blog!
Thank you for the heads up. Will soon be flying a CRJ200
I did not know. Thanks.
I had no idea! Always thanks so much for making “dealing” with DL just a tiny bit better.
I realized I needed to print them when I tried to use one and the wifi was so slow they would not load. The FA was great and just gave me the drink for trying.
Nope. Once again, you tell us this important piece of info, thanks. Cheers!
No
No, I had no idea!
I had no idea – maybe they are trying to hide this from us too! I figured when I looked at them the other day while flying, that I probably lost one just by looking! A new way to save even more money by Delta!
Once again, you are the best on providing us information on Delta. Thanks René for saving us from Delta IT.
My husband printed his because he’s a tree killer and always wants paper. I haven’t printed mine yet. I usually end up giving them to my kids who have no status with Delta. But I have been in the CRJ jets between CAE and ATL, short flight with no service most of the time but if I hand one to the flight attendant early enough they can usually come up with a drink.
I didn’t realize. That’s why we read you, Renee!
I was clueless
always print them out-never can count on hopes…
Did not know that.
What does one need to happen to have HOOU coupons awarded? I’ve not received any of these in the last year as DM
Nope, didn’t know. Never read the fine print since I just can’t drink alcohol on a plane. Since I usually use them for random seat mates, this knowledge may someday save me some embarrassment!
Did not know.
No idea. Thanks
Had no clue! Thanks René 😉
No
“Belt & suspenders”! 🙂 Always print them out, just in case. I’ve seen a PreCheck line get stopped cold because somebody’s phone went on the fritz & couldn’t show the boarding pass. (Wasn’t Delta’s fault afaik) This dude was NOT popular.
No I didn’t. Thanks for your blog and all your advice!!!
I did not know
Had no idea, but then again just assumed they went away with everything else. Also, have they dispensed with the “you’re doing a good job” we used to get to give to FAs that went over and above to be helpful?
Had no clue. I often fly those jets so this is good information to have
I did not, but then I try to avoid those CRJ’s at all costs!
Thanks for the heads up.
Did know – very alert to this type of backwardness as I fly the dreaded no-first-class SBN-DTW route a fair bit. Appreciate the reminder tho!
I didn’t know to print HOOU vouchers
I was not aware of that.
I didn’t know this. Thanks for the tip!
Nope, but I have been on so many more Southwest flights this year I am not surprised.
I didn’t know that – thanks for the heads up!
I cannot find HOOU in my iPhone Delta app wallet. Just ID cards (DM and SkyClub), stored payment methods, and receipts. They do show up in Delta.com wallet, however. I assume Rene’s screen shots are from Android app. Any clues?
Didn’t know. Of course My Delta says I don’t have any HOOUs. I’m PM this year. Not sure when they should appear.
I had no idea!
No idea. Will be useful in May when I can’t move up to comfort plus.
Didn’t know! Thnx Rene!
Did not know. Man, every time I think I’ve seen the complete list of ways Delta annoys me… I read your blog and learn a new one! Appreciate the heads up, as always. At least with your forewarnings I’m not already on board when I find out about these things. Keep up the good work!
Had no idea!
Very unintuitive!
Mahalo
I had no idea. Thanks for the heads up!
Never had heard this before!
Nope, and I fly RJs often. Thanks, Rene!
I did not know, but just in case I would have printed it out anyway
Didn’t know, but glad not to have to learn the hard way!
I did not even know they could be printed!
No, did not know this.
Did not know but always learn something new from you.
No idea
I was caught totally unawares!
Yes, as I always read the t&c.
I had absolutely no idea they MUST be printed. I thought the app would be better in case I switched purses or travel bags. Silly me for trusting Delta!
i didn’t know before but did not want to take a chance so printed one for last trip!!!
Not a clue! You can board a flight electronically, but can’t get a drink? It figures Delta!
Thanks everyone no more comments. We have our winners!
Yes
