Updated Fly Delta APP for Digital HOOUs

At the beginning of last month I blogged about both the new 2017 Delta choice benefit choices for Diamonds as well as the loading of the new Delta digital HOOU or Have One On Us digital coupons. Digital seems so much better than paper right? Well keep in mind as I have shown you about increased chances for bumps, killing trees is always smarter when flying Delta and it turns out the same is true for your Digital HOOU coupons. Take a look:

you must PRINT your Digital Delta HOOU coupons before flight renespoints blog
You better print your digital HOOUs before you fly!

Both inside the Fly Delta APP as well as on Delta.com they warn you that if you plan to use your Digital HOOU coupon on a CRJ200 that has NO 1st class seats (or C+ seats for that matter) then you must print your coupon before you fly to be able to use it. And after all, that is one of the main places most elites will want to use these coupons!

if printed from phone delta hoou gone renespoints blog

I suggest you print it from Delta.com because, since we all know how  amazing  fabulous  spectacular  buggy Delta IT can be if you bring it up inside the APP and cannot immediately use it, it could go away.

Print and save on PAPER you Delta Digital HOOUs

Heck, according to this Flyertalk thread they are simply vanishing without any input on our part now and then as of late so it may be smart to print them  ALL  as backup inside Delta.com (once again, smart to kill tress when you fly Delta)!

Delta paper HOOU coupons

I still have a rather large stack of HOOUs that expire on 31DEC16 from a very kind reader who donated them before being kicked out of Skybonus this year so let’s make this a giveaway day. I will use Random.org later tonight and pick 5 winners and mail them (US address only) each 2 Delta HOOU coupons. Just tell me, either way, if you knew that you must print your digital HOOU before you fly on a CRJ200! – René

Didn’t know, but assumed same “rules” applied as keeping hard cards for status, SkyClub, printed tickets (learned that once the hard way on an international flight, fortunately still on the U.S. side of MSP-CDG, but lesson learned!!!!!), and such together when on the road — seems like a good idea, and faster/easier to NOT trust Delta IT (or having a phone/internet connection) when you need/want to present any of the above…I keep all mine together on a lanyard, as suggested (OK, a keyring was suggested, but I had a bunch of lanyards and zip-lock ID card pockets from work laying around…) Wait, what was the question again? Oh, yeah. No, I didn’t.

My husband printed his because he’s a tree killer and always wants paper. I haven’t printed mine yet. I usually end up giving them to my kids who have no status with Delta. But I have been in the CRJ jets between CAE and ATL, short flight with no service most of the time but if I hand one to the flight attendant early enough they can usually come up with a drink.
