Most times spending SkyMiles on the Delta Experiences site is just flushing the value of your SkyMiles down the drain. Sure, some of the events you cannot just go out and buy retail like one-on-one meet and greets with famous folks but most times the seats for whatever event you go to are way over priced and you are getting much less than 1 cent in value per SkyMile.
But I am a golf nut. I love to play, watch and practice. I go on golf trips each year with my buds where we play from sunrise to sunset for days in a row. So, if I were in Atlanta, the above chance to be inside the ropes at a PGA event for 10,000-ish SkyMiles would be a great value to me. If you are in the ATL area you may want to check this one out as the auction seems to have drawn little interest and ends in a few days.
The next bit I noticed is that there is a change on the way for the SkyMiles Experience site. Pray tell what that will be. The way Delta has been moving to extract as much value for the company, and as little for us, I fear what is on tap.
When you click on the banner on the site it takes you to Delta.com. You must be logged in for anything to happen and when you are logged in and click on the banner you get the above. Sigh.
Anyway, every once in a while you can find a few goodies with SkyMiles Experiences. I, and a bunch of readers, sure did for the Jet Drag back in May of last year. I hope they offer it again but I doubt it will be back. Hopefully I am wrong as it was a really fun day in ATL! – René
