As a prelude to this series of Delta Sky Club reviews I have included the old ex-NWA hubs into one review as there are only a handfull of Sky Clubs at both of these airports and it seems more efficient to have them all in one place. Also, I have included the lounge for the Sky Clubs to strive for the completion from the Manchester Group Escape Lounge that is now open in MSP very near the main Delta Sky Club.
You can get in with a number of AMEX cards or, if you are a Skyteam elite plus status and are on a coach or anyone on a business class international departing (or connecting) ticket, you can also get in free.

I have to say of all the Sky Clubs in the Delta system this is one I think I have spent the most time in due to the close location to my hometown airport SBN or South Bend. I enjoyed it when it was a Northwest World Club and have just recently stopped thinking about this club under the old name. It really is hard to think of old NWA clubs as Sky Clubs (maybe it is just me).
You can enter the club right after you exit security or, if getting off an international fight, before you exit into the main A concourse (this entrance is a nice way to exit also to get to the tram).
While the folks downstairs can help you with issues, they tend to direct you upstairs to the help desk.
The view from the club on the one side is of the Westin hotel and less than impressive. The other side you have the main entrance to the airport and the tram stop for the central concourse.
The club is a large rectangle with the customer service and TV / food / drink service area at one end. The bar is self service so unless you are over 21, or with an adult, you will not get into the DTW clubs.
Food and snack options are typical Sky Club lite, that is, there is not an extensive buffet like at the E or F clubs in Atlanta or even the expanded choices in LAX. Detroit is still very much the old NWA World Club in many respects.
Furnishing are also quite dated and are a mix of somewhat newer chairs and some wickedly old uncomfortable ones. Choose carefully.
In the opposite corner of the club (from the service area) can at times be a semiprivate area.
Also at this end you will find the lavatories and two showers. If you are looking to use them I would check in right away with customer service as they tend to be in high demand.
In addition to the central service area you will find on either side of the club a snack and coffee service areas.
Hidden back past the central service area are a few work cubicles. I really wish they had more of these. There is a workbench area but not as private for working.
A stock feature in all Sky Clubs is a network printer and shredder.
While often crowded, I do like this club for relaxing. But if you need to work and want a private cubicle, to work consider the two clubs at either end of the A concourse. – René

The former Northwest lounges were World Clubs, not Crown Rooms.

The old NWA lounges were called World Clubs I believe. Crown Rooms were Delta lounges. A nice feature of the main club at DTW is the fireplace. It is a homey touch. This club also continues the World Club tradition of providing a large supply of newspapers. At Delta clubs it seems that they often run out of the WSJ and USA Today unless you get there early in the morning. The DTW clubs also have the Financial Times.
It’s really, really disappointing that Delta is investing heavily with marquee services and clubs in SEA, SFO, LAX, and JFK but not DTW or MSP.
I always got let in before I turned 21, and did partake several times. 😀
I guess I just looked the part. Being a medallion traveling on a TATL J ticket definitely helps. 😉

Maybe they haven’t decided which one to keep as a hub? Once they decide, they will probably invest heavily in that one.
This is my home club. They used to have a lot of cubicles for those of us that actually work there. It’s harder to work since they removed them for more open space. The people who work here are great!
