I am really loath to even post this. I am cringing inside and it really pains me even to post this. But, shudder, if you only have a day to, shudder, BUY MQMs from Delta <-LINK at completely ridiculous and beyond “bat crazy” prices that do actually count for last year’s, that is, 2015 medallion status. But should you do this?
- Considering your MQM balance & strategies to consider
- Should I go for Delta Diamond Medallion Status
- Should I go for Delta Platinum Medallion Status
- Should I go for Delta Gold Medallion Status
- Should I go for Delta Silver Medallion Status
I would look at each of these posts and consider, for you personally, if the money spent will be worth it to you personally and that it will jump you to the next Delta elite Medallion level. Please don’t ask me for my advice, as I will not give it, read the posts and then you decide. Oh, and then decide what credit card you want to put it on to get the max points perks for the ridiculous amount of money you are gifting to the mothership to get the MQMs (and or MQD spending) you should have gotten done for something much less before today.
The next one is so much less painful. We are talking about 2015 Choice Benefits <-LINK. Confused about the year or when you MUST spend them? Please read and reread the linked post to be crystal clear if you are about to lose your earned perks on Monday by not cashing them in, or, if you do not understand and have cashed them in a full year too early! 😉
After these two we have the Eye of the Flyer NYC meetup this coming Monday night. If you have not RSVP’d on the post please do so if you are coming so we can have an accurate count at the restaurant. I look forward to meeting you as well as some time with fellow BoardingArea bloggers.
Lastly we have a shot at a really amazing price for a Delta 1st class mileage run out of Austin that, for now, includes full flat seats for the longest legs of the run. Plus, a full day in Philadelphia to check out the city and maybe find the best cheese steak sandwich on the planet. Oh and BBQ the day before the run too. There are at least 4 of us on the run so far and if you have a flexible schedule you may want to join us.
Have a great weekend everyone and let’s hope the next snow storm on the way for the Midwest does not have the impact the east coast one did last week! – René

Thanks, Rene. I just did my PM and DM 2015 Choice Benefits. I chose 4 RUC, 4 GUC and 25K SkyMiles. My only sadness in all this is that I am doing an ATL – SEA (non-stop) RT later this year, and I checked with a reservations agent to use the RUC’s, and she told me there are no upgrade seats to FC in either direction available on my dates (and I tried several) using my RUC’s. This is the first time I’ve tried to use RUC’s. I thought they were a golden ticket. I guess not. Are they only good during the last few days before your trip to get on the upgrade list higher than other Medallions who are trying to get the “complimentary upgrades?” Kinda stinkss. No real loyalty or rewarding the good customers here from DL. One would think since they only give their best customers 4 RUC’s and 4 GUC’s, they should be usable on almost any flight — especially when there are no seats sold yet in FC or D1 on the flights one is looking at. Sad.
2015 Choice Benefits: January 31 is the last day to claim these!
@Mr. G – Yes, I think I mentioned that. A lot. 🙂
