Gosh, I would LOVE for Delta to choose the Bombardier C Series jets. #PaxEx big time!

Bombardier c series jets inside

I want you to take some time to look at the above screen shot from the PDF from Bombardier showing the seat size for the C Series jets. Notice anything different than any other Delta jet you have been on? Yep, the middle seat in coach is BIGGER than the rest. It is so big in fact that it is larger in width than the 1st class seat on a domestic Delta 767-300 wide body jet. Impressive? You bet. I mean if Delta is going to sell and tell us C+ middle seats are an “upgrade”, this kind of seat could make me agree for a change. But there is more. Take a look at this video:

And Delta’s own CEO Richard Anderson has said: “We’re taking a very serious look at it.” talking about the Bombardier C Series jets on ATWonline.com. I hope he gets out his CEO pen and signs a deal for a bunch of these. The reasons Delta would buy them is cost savings in fuel and more but for us who fly, who are more and more going to end up in coach, the seats and the inside is what matters to me. But take a look at this video from Swiss Air:

Now I know someone will jump in about all the challenges that face the C Series both past and future but for me it really is about my experience on-board and few jets offer anything like this one. I love the large seats. I love the large windows. I even like the lavatory changes and size. I just love this jet!

You tell me. Would you enjoy seeing the C Series join the Delta mainline family of jets? – René

I’m right there with you. We fly coach domestically in order to save points. This plane makes so much sense…storage, seats, windows, lavatory, that it is a win, win for passengers. Being in our retirement years now, I just want to arrive without feeling like I will lose a day unfolding myself!

    Thanks for sharing.

Agree that it’s a nice jet. And you know that the folks at Delta perked up when he mentions that they can charge extra for the middle seat now! I’ll keep an eye out for that “enhancement” : )

Bombardier has designed a great little airplane. Experience tells me that it won’t take long for the airlines to ruin it for us. A slightly bigger middle seat is nice. According to the video airlines like it for potential revenue enhancements. The ability to accommodate larger roll aboard bags will not be permitted by standardized airline carry on rules. Any extra legroom won’t get past the bean counters. We all know that.

Still it would be nice to be crowded onto a new airplane with wider seats instead of one made in the 70s or 80s. Even though delta seems to be the leader in fleet diversification, with the expectation that fuel will remain relatively cheap for the near term, I think the odds of delta buying these new jets are slim to none. Maybe when fuel cost become more significant and there is a used market for the C Series, delta will sprinkle a few of these planes into its fleet.

Wow! I would love this as DL only flies (ugh) CRJ2/7/9s to my home airport. Do you think DL would really make FC 2-2? most DL FCs are at least 21 inches wide. Great post!
