Well it’s a GREAT New Year from us! Let’s dig into a treat we have to start the New Year of Elite Mileage Runs with here on RenesPoints!
West Coasters can visit Memphis (Home of the King; Elvis that is) and as long as you route it through Detroit in both directions you can get a sweet deal of 5,178 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s) for about $189 and that comes out to 3.6 Cents Per Mile (CPM).
Now I will tell you I can see it priced from $181 to $201 but I cannot get KAYAK to cooperate this morning. But here’s a shocker; Delta.com actually prices this route properly! Well, sort of. I can see a $181 price but Delta will not give it to me for cheaper than $189, so there you have it. Still it’s 3.6 CPM
There are dates in the latter part of January and spread throughout February. Some routes are departing late in the evening from Los Angeles and then you fly a red-eye through the night and get back to LAX in the following afternoon. So less than 24 hours away.
The Details:
MQM’s: 5178 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s)
Ticket Price: $189
Cost: 3.6 Cents Per Mile (CPM)
Bookable on Delta.com
My SkyMiles Secret Strategy
So, now here is a secret, and how I think you should look at Delta Mileage Runs going forward. Now, this is just my opinion but if you look at this fare you can give Delta 15,000 of their SkyPesos SkyRubles SkyMiles back and get this for just a few cents. We know from (ancient) history that there was a time that a domestic round-trip award ticket used to cost 25,000 SkyMiles. So now, you are getting a Mileage Run, earning 5,178 MQM’s and you can say just toss 15,000 of those cheap currency points their way! In that way you are actually transferring SkyMiles to MQM’s! Man, I am loving that! I am sure the revenue department has not thought too much about this yet….oh but they will when 2016 financials come in…

Just a little confused. How do you pay for a $189 ticket for 15,000 sky rubles?
@Jeff – 15000 will take $150 off so your net cost is just $29 plus points. I am not a fan but John is.
