Choice is good. In Minneapolis you have very few choices in lounges to enjoy. If you are flying Delta, you have two Sky Clubs to choose from. You have a very tiny, and often packed, United club if flying United. Now those flying any airline have a new choice and it is worth a visit.
As you can see it is located in Terminal one on the mezzanine level, just above the concourse E entrance and next to the PGA golf shop (just look for the big GOLF logo)
Then after either the stairs or elevator to floor 3 (main level is level 2) you are there.
I love the carved look of the company logo at the check-in desk. To enter the lounge you will need a same day boarding pass as well as the fee of $45. The lounge is not currently a Priority Pass lounge, like the other Escape lounges in England, but that as well as other programs are in the works, I was told, and may be in place by the official opening day of January 21st 2016.
After you enter, to your right, you have a large seating area with a great view of the runway.
This is farthest away from the bar area and a nice spot to relax.
You also have access to a number of newspapers and magazines.
And there will be snacks (again my tour was for the soft opening day).
I do very much like the modern European feel to the club. The seats are not “just modern” but comfortable as well. There can be times where one is traded for the other but not in this lounge.
I was also told that local artists from the Minneapolis area will be featured around the lounge. This, as well as a number of other small bits, are still to be completed before the end of January 2016.
Just left of the main entrance is the food service area and it really is a much nicer setup than the other Escape lounges I have visited.
The food choices, few that they were during the soft open day, were impressive and I look forward to seeing the full complimentary menu in place over the next few weeks. Here is a small taste, if you will, of what to expect.
Impressive. While there will be food to order I think I will be pleased with what is offered. Here is the breakfast and lunch / dinner menus
I was told there will be table service for those who wish it, but self service of all the complimentary items is at your discretion. Tipping is neither required nor expected, but not forbidden either.
Next to the self serve area is a open and spacious bar. There are a number of complimentary choices.
Next you have more seating and views. In addition to views there are a number of flight boards around the lounge. It is nice not to have to walk around to find one. Well done, Escape.
Lastly you have a small area with some comfortable seating, a work area with tablets for use, and again just amazing runway views.
Did I mention the views. Oh my. I could stay in this lounge all day and watch jets take off and land. It is a perfect spot and view (unlike the view from the main Delta club nearby).
Other bits I am really impressed with. They have put power ports everywhere. I mean just everywhere. And the ones with USB or std power at what seems like every jack. I love this. This is modern thinking. I like the style of the club as well. The time clocks you see in most clubs are all the same clock face. Not here. Really fun. Lastly the wifi is very good. To be fair there were few of us using it at the time so once the lounge is full it will be interesting to re-test the speed. I was told a great deal was invested to ensure good wifi performance.
I was informed that breakfast will be served daily until 10:30am but that time will be fluid depending on customer requests. Food choices will rotate 3-4 times a year including seasonal items and desserts. The next lounge to open will be in Oakland, CA as the MAG Airport Group is planning on focusing on under served airports with few lounge choices currently. I put in a personal plug to consider Midway as an outstanding next choice.
Final thoughts. If and when the lounge becomes part of Priority Pass (that you can get free from the non-Delta AMEX Platinum card (learn more), I will be making a beeline to this club each time I come to MSP. From the location to the views to the food choices to the drink choices – all really impress me. I think capacity will be a possible issue but on the plus side for Delta flyers a lounge THIS good in MSP will have the net effect of making the often VERY crowded main MSP club a bit less so! – René

As you said I love to have options. However, unless they become part of Priority Pass I don’t see myself paying $45 for maybe 1 hour of use of the lounge (I am based in Minneapolis so don’t spend much time at the airport). It would be very convenient to use with wife and my 2 kids when we are going on vacation since I won’t pay for the kids to use the Delta lounge but with Priority Pass from Citi Prestige both me and my wife are allowed to bring one guest for free.

I’m also MSP based and am happy for this addition. It’s nice to have choices, especially with a view. Hoping the priority pass things goes trough because I wouldn’t shell out $45 for any lounge unless I wound up stranded somewhere that didn’t have a delta lounge to crash. Thanks for the review!
As a Delta Amex cardholder, it is only $29 to use the more convenient Skyclub. Granted the food choices look better at the Escape lounge, so if going to eat a meal, it would be a wash. Food in Skyclub is limited to continental breakfast and snacks.
No, I would never pay $45 for an hour or a little more in a lounge. Come on. Granted the Delta Skyclubs are over crowded, but they are free as I am a Diamond and have the Delta Reserve Card. No way to justify paying $45 for some snacks and a less crowded space?
@Mark – For one hour? No. For many hours? Still no as you can get it for less than $45. If I had 5 or 6 hours to kill I would pay vs free SkyClub. But for a short visit I would need Priority Pass access to be in place.
Has this club ever become part of Priority Pass?
