Delta has recently completely refurbished the LAX Sky Club other than the welcome desk. Just about every space has been changed in some way. The only thing that seems to have been scrapped was the initial plans for a PVT VIP room (it was to be behind the reception area).

You can get in with a number of AMEX cards or, if you are a Skyteam elite plus status and are on a coach or anyone on a business class international departing (or connecting) ticket, you can also get in free.

The normal elevator is out of service as of this post so you have to use the massive utility one a few feet away. The entrance is where it was before

The club really has been totally refreshed. The old chairs, decor and snack area are all gone. In their place is bright art work, comfortable chairs and power outlets everywhere. Not only is the snack area moved but also greatly improved with many more choices.

The first space is a rotunda with a bright and remarkable signature look. To me, to create what they have without going “over the top” if you will is truly impressive.

If you turn right after entering the club you will enter a grand area. Way to the right is a new area that was walled off in the old design and now opens up a huge new area of seating.

Then we have an area that was PACKED with uncomfortable chairs that now is a dining type area. Nice change and much improved.

The bar is at the same location it was before but across from the bar is a MUCH improved choice of items to enjoy both morning and throughout the day.

In addition to the soup you now have a number of additional choices. Maybe not as much as the larger buffets at the ATL E & F clubs (reviews up soon) but still impressive choices!

delta skyclub lax los angeles review renespoints blog 2015 (24)

Even breakfast choices have expanded and I have to say they have reached the level that there is enough choice for most folks to be more than happy!

The far end of the room is the same as it was before other than you have much better, and more private, seating choices in the middle of the room.

Move back to the Sky Club entrance you have new seating at the space just ahead of you. There is space for your luggage but no way to lock it up and do notice the automated kiosk machines have been removed. This is disappointing as you now MUST bug the reps for simple things. Lastly the quiet room has been massively reduced in size. What would have become the VIP area is now office space and part of the space is for the two new showers.

delta skyclub lax los angeles review renespoints blog 2015 (10)

With four showers wait times will still be long in LAX but not all but impossible as when there were only two for use.

Other bits I am really impressed with. Delta gets it that we are power leaches and want to plug in at least a phone, tablet, laptop and who knows what else and we ALL want to do that at every seat. Also the wifi speed, with a rather packed house, was VERY impressive compared to the LAX Sky Club of old.

Overall I am truly impressed with this new and improved T5 Delta LAX Sky Club. I personally have found the desk reps to be outstanding and very kind and helpful. I like the bright, light decor and if I had only one other wish it would be that there were more sleeping type chairs in the quiet room. That is the only thing now lacking in this impressive club! – René

Hey Rene, I read your blog quite often (even not flyin Delta) and I have a small request to make. The pictures in the blog are always very small, there is any way you could make them bigger on the webpage?

    Cheers

@Guilherme – They are optimized for mobile (and faster page loading) as now over 60% of readers are on phones etc. Please click ANY photo then you can do a full screen slide show of them all. Enjoy!

How about hiring better cleaners for the shower? Every time I go there and shower — four times a year — I have to stand on a towel in the shower because the cleaners don’t do a good job and there’s body (or pubic!) hair from others on the floor. I’m not talking about tiny little pieces, either. Six weeks ago, I got dressed again, walked to the desk and brought the agent back. I showed him. He apologized and had it re-cleaned. When I came back, the hair was still there. He came back again and apologized. The cleaner just sprayed the shower with cleaning solution. Apparently, there cleaners are a third-party, union contractor and there’s little that can be done.

Thanks for staying on top of EVERYTHING Delta and always keeping us updated! You do a fantastic job and it’s so appreciated! Can’t wait to check out the lounge in LAX. Will do so on our RTW awards trip we finally got booked and will take before the end of the year by the skin of our teeth before time runs out. Not the trip we wanted but we made it. Recently went through ATL concourse F and thought I was on another planet! Where did all the food come from? It was heaven! A suggestion for rookie Wed – how the heck do we tweet? We’re definitely rookies with that and would like to get a handle on DeltaAssist since I’ve heard from other posters they seem to be so helpful. Thanks again!

I try not to complain about things as a general rule. I try to take things in stride. That being said, Delta has kind of been just giving me what I need. First it was starting the LAX-SFO shuttle, then it was adding mainline 717’s, then refurbishing the LAX club (and then doing it again), and then the new SFO club… I shuttle between Los Angeles and San Francisco quite a bit, and as it stands the experience is really a pleasant one these days. Screw the miles…I can have a quick breakfast at the club in LA and a very good Tito’s bloody mary at SFO before coming back. They’ve done a great job at LAX.

@FNT Delta Diamond, standing on a towel while showering? Don’t you wear bathing shoes when showering outside your own home?
I always wear shoes when taking a shower at a hotel, an airport lounge, etc.

I visit that club about 3 times per month and I just wanted to echo the point about how helpful the staff is. Most of them have been there for a while and they are really great about doing whatever they can to help with flight changes, upgrade issues, etc.
