I am a member of KLM’s Flying Blue program. You should be too. Why? There are a vast number of reasons but the most basic one is that you can transfer AMEX Membership Rewards points from cards like the:
The Platinum Card® from American Express <—LINK
Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express <—LINK
They transfer over to Flying Blue 1:1 for some amazing awards now and then! What awards? Certain times of the year you can book economy and business class awards to Europe from the USA for as much as 50% off the normal points required. Plus, unlike Delta.dumb, KLM awards space and booking page works quite well (a refreshing thing to see).
If you have not created a Flying Blue account then you are to be both scolded and yet, for now, rewarded as KLM is offering with the promo code WWEN 3000 bonus Flying Blue points if you “travel on any AIR FRANCE KLM flight” before April 1st 2016.
Another great reason to have a Flying Blue account is for any kind of issue that can come up along the way even for things as simple as checking in for a flight and selecting seats. All simpler with a Flying Blue account and a KLM PNR to reference.
Beyond that what I do when I am booked on a business class award ticket already is to put in another Skyteam frequent flyer number like KLMs Flying Blue. I have, on a number of occasions over the past few years, got point credit on a Delta award ticket (even class of service bonus as well). Getting free points on a free ticket just works!
Anyway, while 3ooo points is not a ton of points, if you have not yet signed up for a Flying Blue account now would be a good time to do so. And then don’t forget to add your account to your Award Wallet page as well! – René

I wrote on this earlier. I find the language of the email announcing the promotion to be unclear. don’t you?

@Kathy – Actually I posted about 8 minutes before you 😉 but yes the signup page does not have much info but with the promo code and the wording in the e-mail I think we are good to go. The only thing I am NOT sure about is if a code-share will work or if it MUST be KLM or AF metal. That, to me, is unclear.
So, do you agree that the Flying Blue email – when read with the email subject heading – is at best, confusing, or at worst, misleading?
@Kathy – I think, as posted, if someone flys a FB or AF metal flight (who is a new sign up) they will get 3k bonus points if by 1 April. Yes confusing a bit but hey we all should have FB accounts anyway. Right? 😉
p.s. when I said “earlier” – I did not mean “earlier or later” than you. I just meant that I’d written on it earlier than the time of my comment here.
@Kathy – 🙂 🙂 🙂 See we are confusing too 🙂
I signed up with the promo code WWEN and completed my first flight on KL metal but an email correspondence with FB team, I found out the code is invalid.
