At the top of the hour (i.e very soon), if you are reading this from Cape Town, South Africa, you can take a very short but UBER kool ride in a McLaren 650S. Oh my. The directions say:
HOW IT WORKS:
1) Open the Uber app and enter the promo code UberMcLarenSA to unlock the unique view
2) Toggle over to the UberMcLaren icon and request a ride as you normally would
3) Within minutes, the McLaren 650S will arrive at your location ready to take you where you need to go!
* Sign up using the promo code UberMcLarenSA to request a FREE supercar ride!
* Already have the app? Simply input the promo code and request a ride this Friday!
* Trips are limited to a maximum distance of 5km
* The McLaren 650S seats only ONE passenger at a time
* Successful requesters are limited to one trip only
Now that is, if you are in Cape Town. For the rest of us there is a $20 promo for your first ride in any Uber car. Maybe not as amazing, but still.
I am a car guy I have to admit. I love fast cars. I loved TopGear with “Clarkson, May and Hammond” and am really happy they are (with their old producer) coming to a new auto show on Amazon Prime next year.
While an upgrade to a Delta PVT jet may be a once in a lifetime experience, driving around, even for a little while, in a super car like a McLaren 650S would be amazing.
Would you sign up for Uber just to take a ride in a super car? – René

In a heartbeat, Rene!
@Cate! – 🙂
This opportunity could turn into a brilliant marketing scheme. Have a new version of a car to market? Hire an uber driver to drive it to introduce it to the general public. Have a car to sell? Sign up for uber and have the for sale sign on the car. I’m sure those are ideas others have already thought of but that could be kind of fun. I’d love to check out the new mustang that is supposed to be just like the 1964 1/2 I used to own and I could do it without going to the dealership and wasting their time because I’m not going to buy one.
@Chris – Yes I agree. Brilliant move.
