During my quick visit out to San Francisco I needed a place to stay, but also wanted to burn up some Club Carlson points before the massive devaluation starting next month, that is, the end to the buy one get one night free offer when you hold the US Bank Club Carlson card. The Radisson Fisherman’s Wharf for 50k all in seemed like a great choice and my plan was to spend most of a full day in the bay area.
The hotel is undergoing some serious construction and renovation so be prepared for that for the next few months if you plan to book before your buy one get one free chance goes away.
I mean LOTS of construction and they do start rather early so be alert for that as well. Having said that, I got one of the newly renovated rooms.
Not huge, but had ample space and really a good layout for such a small area.
Even the work area was ample with free wifi (and good speed) and lots of power ports. Always a plus at any hotel (not sure about the dart board but whatever).
And getting a welcome card is always nice even if a computer printed one.
My only criticism is the bathroom size. It was tiny. I mean REALLY tiny. Plus, you had better shut the door when you shower. I had the door open as the room was so small. Not a good move. When I was 100% soaped up the fire alarm went off from the steam. What followed was not a pretty picture of your Delta Points blogger dripping wet and shaking soap suds all over the room fanning a towel madly in front of the smoke alarm to make it be quiet. Ugg.
Having my own balcony was nice and had I had more time I would have very much enjoyed relaxing and taking in the view.
Nothing like watching street cars go by and as mentioned the location is right there at the wharf. Just a great spot.
Nice if you are planning to end your day enjoying a meal here and then saunter back to your hotel.
I have never been to the “rock” but have done the helicopter tour over it in the past. I would love to see it in person one day.
Overall it was a nice stay. Breakfast was not officially included as a Club Carlson Gold (free from my US Bank card) but they went ahead and comp’d it anyway and it was at the IHOP in the same building as the hotel.
Bottom line I am not sure I would pay 50,000 CC points per night for this location but getting it, for now, at just 25k per night is a real value for the location. Have you stayed at this Radisson Fisherman’s Wharf ? – René

You cant book this hotel on points I believe past June 5th or so. Ive looked for months, even reached out via Twitter and it was confirmed.
I stayed there a couple of days ago. The room was nicely decorated but is really small. You were lucky that you got a balcony. We got two twin bed and also no gold benefit as well (including no breakfast). 🙁
Can’t even make a points reservation for it now except for *this week*, and it’s showing 75,000 points!!! A few weeks ago, all of a sudden I couldn’t find any time or space for reservations on points on almost any decent Club Carlson hotel. Wondering if they blocked them out until after the devaluation date… 😛
We stayed here in sep 2013 and loved it back then.Back then, it was 38k per night. Got upgraded to one of those Pier view rooms where you are literally on the Pier.
Agreed, the finer things need to improve, but this hotel is all about the location!
lucky me was there last Sat & Sun using the 1&1 benefit. got a 4th floor room with balcony facing the water, might be right above where you are because we had the same view, just higher. no breakfast but comped parking which is $50 a day. i am impressed with the # of power outlets and iHome wireless streaming to tv for shows off my tablets. only negatives are really small room & bath. other than that was a perfect stay, cant beat the location either. yes trying to book another & nothing comes up, now I know past June there’s nothing.
also i booked just a few days prior, 40k pts for 2 nights on 1&1.
Where did you get the idea this was a Radisson BLU? It doesn’t come close to Blu standards.
This review is outdated. This property is no longer a Club Carlson hotel. It has since been branded as Zephyr, an independent boutique hotel. CC does not currently have any footprint in San Francisco.
@Ken – Uh, I was there about 3 weeks ago. Still a Radisson and part of Club Carlson. But thanks for your comment all the way from Shanghai China!
