I take a bunch of photos as I travel. I try to use the best ones I can in each post but sometimes they just don’t make it into a post. So, I thought I would share some of my favorite ones I grabbed in my travels over the past few months that I tweeted but never posted. You can click on the 1st one and then do a full screen slide-show for them all if you wish! The first one above is from Detroit (DTW) and a Delta 737 with split scimitars (winglets) that should yield even more gas savings! Neat right?
Sticking with DTW we have 2 of the soon to be retired 747 jumbo jets or as we like to call them the Queen of the Skies! Amazing jets!
Jets are not the only things that fly in DTW. If you have not noticed, the sparrows are starting to get out of control. I counted over a dozen last visit. Maybe time to get an airport cat or two? 😉
Then, since I did enjoy some quality time in the back of a CRJ200 (due to weight and balance) here is a neat wing view. Love clouds. Just love ’em.
I am always impressed how big and strong a jet engine is. Neat to stare out from 1st class and just watch the world go by.
Plus some of the land below is just breathtaking like the mountains on the way from Seattle to Wenatchee Washington. Gosh, those runs were fun this year.
How about both Chicago airports. It is always a rush to climb out of Midway as there is so little room for error. Must be just as fun or more upfront landing and taking off!
Got a nice view of O’Hare as well as we flew past and came around. Strange from DTW but the winds were blowing just the right way.
Lastly just an amazing morning in San Francisco. I will have much more on this visit later on next week as it was really a nice time and can’t wait to write up the review of the 757 service between SFO and NYC!

Geeat pics. It is amazing what you can see by looking out of the window. I like to try finding general aviation airports from the air. A straight line or a rotating beacon are usually the giveaways.
Nice Pics.. when do the 747’s retire.. I have never been on one and don’t want to miss it like I did the Concorde.
@capttone – in flux. they are keeping at least one so you should be ok for a little while longer.
