I really did not “need” this year’s #BragTags. I still use old tags, but I have to admit that it really did bug me that it took so long for Delta to send off my kit to me. So let’s see what is inside.
After a welcome letter, the first part is a pair of aluminum Diamond tags. Just like last year’s.
No Skymiles number or bar code on the back as was the case years ago. Also my updated Skymiles card expiring 1FEB2017 (also no bar code btw). That can be good to have when interacting with some Skyteam partners. That goes straight into my wallet.
The next bit is the item I really wanted and care about (and my favorite part Delta). The JWD or Job Well Done certificates. These were once, I was told, worth 1500 points each to those whom you gave them to. Today they are 500 each as a Diamond. Those points can be turned into cash. I really like being able to thank reps for when they go above and beyond. Even phone reps (#TIP: you just read them the number over the phone).
Then we have 4 HOOU or Have One On Us coupons. I have only missed a couple of upgrades so these were not really important to me, but having them in January or February would have been really nice. I plan to give these away to readers soon 🙂 Plus if I want a drink I at least get 20% off with my Delta AMEX card!
So that is it. Delta has been thinking about turning all of this into digital downloads from information gleaned from private focus groups. Honestly, most of it would truly be simpler to download and print myself other than the Medallion card itself that is nice to have as a real card and the luggage tags that would be hard to print out.
I guess I would be happy to go all digital if it meant we could get 2x as many JWD & HOOU coupons each year. What do you think? – René

I haven’t received mine yet. I, like you, don’t “need” it, but it is annoying!
Hi Renée! I think I must be confused. I qualified for diamond last October (my first time) and I received my credentials then. Should I be expecting another package at this time? I did not get one in March.
@Jim – No. Since you got your 2015 one already.
This years package was much less impressive than years past…and less exciting. But if they are leaning toward a digital delivery then they need to wean us off I suppose. Whatever happens a decent tag and card seem to be must haves in my mind.
it took about 9 weeks to get my D stuff
I’m just a lowly Platinum, but I was disapointed to see the 2015 tags vs 2014. Last year they were metal and had a quality metal strap. This year plastic and no strap. and no identifying info on the tags so other than “bling”, whats the point?
I believe for 2016 Delta employees will continue to do their best to provide us with unmatched service and on-time arrivals.
I also believe that Delta bean counters will do the unthinkable – they’ll actually roll back the Comfort+ restrictions for Diamond and Platinium Medallions so that we can take our spouses on trips in Comfort as we have always done.
Long time Gold, I just made Platinum good until Feb 2018 (thanx Amex) and I don’t care if I don’t get a card. I’d rather they make a change in Choice benefits giving an option of four Regional or two Globals instead. I always fly international and four Regionals are useless to me. Think it’s possible? Should I beg? They did do the diamond change to two Global and four regional or 8 Regional. C’mon Delta, show the Platinums some global love.
@Jeff – Nope. They hold out GU only for Diamonds. Join me on a mileage run? 😉
