Welcome to a weekly feature on the Renés Points blog. Each week this series covers in a “rookie” way either a Delta or travel related theme and attempts to break down to a basic level each topic. You can read up on all the previous posts HERE. Now on to this week’s feature.
I give Delta IT a bunch of flack and deservingly so. The award page is beyond hopelessly broken and it took the corporate suits just deleting the award charts to make it so we at least don’t know how bad things really are!
But that is SkyRubles under the bridge. How about some praise and e-mail you should never ever ignore and a good part of Delta IT.
The above screen shot shows what will be e-mailed to your current on file e-mail address you have listed under “My Delta” on Delta.com if you make any changes to the default e-mail you have.
If you EVER get this, and did not make any changes, you had better call Delta ASAP as you have likely been hacked and will see your SkyMiles account drained (or worse). Delta does suggest you click on the link in the e-mail that takes you to the comment section of Delta.com.
I would NOT do this. I would just call. Why? Clicking on links in e-mails can, at times, result in very bad things happening. Better to have a human at the other end of the line!
There is always some kind of scam on the way either via e-mail, via regular mail or even over the phone. Please never give out personal data and be pro-active to make sure you are not made to suffer the loss of your hard earned points! – René

I take a screen shot of my account balance page every so often since we no longer get paper statements from delta. I also do that for my other frequent programs like Hilton, etc. I don’t ever want to be hacked but I want some measure of proof as to what I did have, just in case.
