If you have not been following along the past few weeks, I have been “patiently” waiting for my promised upgrade to Hertz Gold Plus Rewards President’s Circle. Hertz says I will enjoy:
- Confirmed vehicle availability of Standard Equipment Economy through Full-Size 4 door vehicles in the U.S. and Canada with a minimum 48 hour advance reservation.
- Confirmed vehicle one-car-class upgrade available at all participating locations in the U.S., Canada and select European locations. Maximum upgrade is to a Full-Size class vehicle with a minimum reserved Compact vehicle.
- 25% bonus on Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® Points.
- 675 Rewards Points after every 15 qualifying rentals.
- Includes all the benefits of Gold service. [That is lots more stuff]
Well as you can see, at long last my upgrade has been processed. It seems that someone got the message that processing these upgrades has been taking WAY too long.
What should you do if yours is not done and you have waited more than 8 weeks? I would get on twitter and let Hertz know it has been more than 8 weeks and see if they will look into your case. But some advice before you do. Do make sure you ARE registered on Delta.com. Do make sure your Hertz number is correctly filled in on your MY DELTA at Delta.com. Do make sure it has been more than 8 weeks since you registered (if you forgot, call Delta and they will tell you the date). If you have done all that, and still no upgrade, then tweet away to Hertz and see if they can not fix it for you.
It will be fun now to see if the level of service and car upgrades is any better with my new Hertz Gold status. I mean, I have always been very pleased with Hertz so I think it can only be that much better! – René

I’ve been Hertz PC for a few years, it is a great program. And it is even better when they send you discount codes to save money on top of the class upgrade.
@Dr. John – Agree. Have always just been very pleased. Why I stick with them. I really think this promo shocked them i.e. the number of folks who wanted to take part from Delta.
Arrgh, still no joy for me. Guess it’s time to chase learn about Twitter.
@Vicente – Here is help: http://deltapoints.boardingarea.com/2012/10/11/a-beginners-guide-to-use-deltaassist-with-twitter-a-simple-how-to-guide/
My test will be this week on Friday in Tampa.
The upgrades have been spotty, the cars are parked closer to the entrance. Not much different from Gold or 5*.
My last 2 rentals with hertz have been less than stellar. 1 Day at LAX and got a 40000 mile car with the gas cap taped on. 1 week in LAS and was given a 34000 car with a defective passenger door handle – had to trapse back and exchange.
This is not the Hertz we once knew and loved. 2 more rentals with them coming up… if they are like the last 2 i’ll be leaving them.
FYI.. complained on both only heard back on 1… the reply was unsatisfactory too!!
Thanks for the post. It’s been about 10 weeks for me and no luck either. Will send them a tweet.
Tweeted to @Hertz, got told to call Delta. LOL!
@Vicente – Ugg. Tweet them link to the post that it is NOT a Delta issue and have them FIX IT!
hertz PC will get you nothing. I have found that if you travel to one location on a regular basis and the agent gets to know your last name, that’s how you get the upgrades. I dislike all the car rental companies but found Avis to be best for upgrades. Hertz not so much
I shot them off a tweet, they quickly replied. They told me to call the general sky miles number. Explained that I talked to Delta already but alas they said only Delta could fix…. grrrrrr..
