I have to really give it to Delta with their brilliant cross company promotions. Crossover Rewards has been amazing and has, at least for me, achieved the desired effect, that is, when I stay at a hotel most times it is a SPG one. I can see from my reader poll that a number of folks who read the blog are SPG elites who favor Delta. So the promotion is working that way as well and why not since you get some medallion type perks as an SPG elite.
In December last year Delta came up with a great Hertz auto rental promotion tie-in for medallions. I signed up right away when I learned of the promotion and it said it could take up to 8 weeks to be active.
I checked that my Hertz number was correct at MY DELTA and I could not dream it would take that long in today’s modern tech world, but we have passed that 8 week point and a number of us do not have the upgraded Hertz. Time to reach out and see what is up. I get to twitter and was told this:
OK I send off an e-mail and am told I have to wait up to 5 days to get a response (are we seeing a trend here yet). Disappointing, but it is what it is. Then I get this e-mail.
Really? I have to contact Delta to fix my Hertz status? Just how is that going to work. It turns out it was a form letter sent to most who asked about the promotion as you can see in this FlyerTalk thread. Then check out another FT’ers tweets to Hertz about it and Delta’s response as well:
Sigh. Delta is blaming Hertz. Hertz is blaming Delta. E-mail complaints are met by form letter responses. Clearly there is nothing Delta can do to fix my Hertz status. Hertz has tweeted this is a known issue. Great.
So if you happen to have access to the very best elites of another company, and have a chance to build real brand loyalty, don’t do everything you can to make them frustrated, angry and a little bit crazy! – René

Our Company switched from Hertz to Avis as preferred rental vendor. so this one I don’t have to worry about ;).
I actually have my Avis credit go to my AA account to make sure it was always active.

On another note, I have been noticing increasing frequency in which the award costs for travel is well over what the max cost should be. I got a 272,500 award cost the other day for a MCI to OGG. Today, getting 95,000 for MCI to CUN. Got to love the awesome (crappy) Delta engine.
Very timely. I was about to inquire about the same issue.
I was doing a Hertz reservation just yesterday and wondering why the 5-Star status wasn’t showing for my account. I’m Delta GM and was already Hertz Gold Plus.
I was looking at Hertz hoping 5-star status would net me the 1-class upgrade to make them worthwhile. Other companies had cheaper options for the compact. Their other differentiator is the 1 included child car-seat on AAA discounted rentals, but I expect other companies to follow suit on that one eventually.
I just ran into the EXACT same issue. E-mailed Hertz they said to call Delta. I actually called the Diamond line and spoke with someone nad provided them with Hertz email and phone number and asked them to resolve and call me back. We will see what happens
I received my status upgrade – was five star- last week. So far it seems it processed without a problem.
I was frustrated with the same issue, but notice that when I checked yesterday as I was booking a rental that President’s Circle status had finally been applied to my Hertz account. I signed up the day I received the email which was months ago.
I kept checking for my upgraded status and finally last week when I clicked on the link to ‘print card’ it said gold plus president’s circle. It didn’t show that anywhere else on the website. I think it’s a secret when you get it. 🙂

I’m a PM that registered for the promo the same day it came out and have yet to recieve the upgrade. Rene, have you been upgraded yet? Anyone else have any tips for gettings this completed?
