    Deltas insane approach to handling carry on luggage and saying no room every time the plane is only half full. Do you wait to see if all FC checked in and chance it or just take your coach seat to get all your carry on on board and hope they remember you if there is an empty in FC

    have you decided on a date for the MSP event when you do an EAT run?

    Also, have you ever considered doing conference calls where people could pay a fee to ask questions and get answers that you don’t feel comfortable posting online? Just thinking it could be an opportunity for those of us that would like more inside info, but can’t manage to get to one of your conferences.

    Suggestion for the MSP dinner;

    Make it a restaurant located within the Mall of America. Everyone will be staying at different hotels around the airport however most of us will enjoy free shuttles to and from the mall and this would make it so much easier on the participants.

    Thanks for the article on the regional upgrade certificates. I’ve had two experiences, one where the upgrade was provided and another where the upgrade moved me to the front of the upgrade list and I didn’t gate clear. Kind of disappointed in the certificate.

    Nice giveaway. Sadly, many years ago, I lost miles to Delta transferred from American Express Membership Miles, from confusing letter re 2 different types of accounts expiring; they wouldn’t reconsider. Now, they don’t have miles expire, which is progress, but if they’re hard to book, then it is still problematic. But it’s time for me to take another look at Delta.

    I am still annoyed that Delta made us pay for a flight into Paris last spring; they said no reward seats were available.

    We bought the tickets anyway due to scheduling issues with ther airlines, but we were shocked to find a half-empty flight both ways!

    That is when we said we would blow the rest of our miles on a lowly trip to Florida, and focus on other airlines.

    I still follow and like your blog!

I read both the American petition and the Delta reply and I hope this is a wake up call for Delta about customer service. I couldn’t believe how often the SEA-HND service was cancelled (they seldom ran flight more than 7 days a month).

    Happy Saturday! I’d like to hear more about effective ways to thank a great FA, GA, etc as well as how to effectively complain to get something done about a problem employee.

    On a recent flight, everyone in the gate area was roundly berated over the course of 30 minutes by a young and full of himself GA who threatened at various times to “personally humiliate” anyone who tried to sneak a pink-tagged bag onto the plane (because “we can track them in real time! I’ll come onto the aircraft, find the bag and personally humiliate you!”), call the port authority on anyone who was standing too far into the concourse (the sentiment behind which I agreed with, but threatening to sic the port authority on passengers seemed a bit much), etc.

    It always seems like the comment/complaints to Delta go into a black hole of automatic copy and paste responses, so is there a good way to actually effectively complain?
