Today is going to be real simple. But first the rules (since I gotta). By taking part and commenting you are agreeing you have read the rules HERE and are AOK with them. Now on to the giveaway.
I have up for grabs this week a 24hr Skyclub pass worth $50. You KEEP IT if you enter as it is good for more than one day if you are say flying over two days (up to 24hrs). Also a crisp new HOOU or Have One On Us coupon to tide you over until 1MARCH15 when C+ seats turn the tap back on! Plus, I will include some other neat Delta Points swag as well.
All I need from you, for a shot via Random.org on Friday the 23rd, is to leave any kind of comment. Have a topic you want me to blog about? A question? Something to say about the blog? Something to say about Delta? It’s open mic day so leave a comment for a chance to win! – René

Looking forward to my March Delta trip with a open jaw!
Deltas insane approach to handling carry on luggage and saying no room every time the plane is only half full. Do you wait to see if all FC checked in and chance it or just take your coach seat to get all your carry on on board and hope they remember you if there is an empty in FC
have you decided on a date for the MSP event when you do an EAT run?
Also, have you ever considered doing conference calls where people could pay a fee to ask questions and get answers that you don’t feel comfortable posting online? Just thinking it could be an opportunity for those of us that would like more inside info, but can’t manage to get to one of your conferences.
Thanks for the blog! We are currently traveling around the world with skyteam and was upgraded by air France on a 2.5 hour flight. I didn’t realize we could get upgraded on the international legs! Thanks again!
Suggestion for the MSP dinner;
Make it a restaurant located within the Mall of America. Everyone will be staying at different hotels around the airport however most of us will enjoy free shuttles to and from the mall and this would make it so much easier on the participants.
I could so use this for my Europe trip next week!
I love the idea Ryan had about a conference call.
Maybe you could also have a twitter/social party one night where people can all questions 🙂
P.S. I ❤ your blog
Can you do a topic on best tips for using miles to upgrade from a paid flight? Thanks
i have, and value, the business Reserve card. Given the fact that you can churn business AmEx cards every 12 months, should I cancel and renew for the sign on bonus or just hold the card?
Thanks for the article on the regional upgrade certificates. I’ve had two experiences, one where the upgrade was provided and another where the upgrade moved me to the front of the upgrade list and I didn’t gate clear. Kind of disappointed in the certificate.
Would LOVE the SC Pass (or the HOOU!). I get access to DL SC through AMEX Plat when flying DL, but unfortunately Dad doesn’t.
We’ll be traveling TPE-NRT-SEA-PDX, and the time change means it’ll be good in both NRT and SEA!!
Thanks for hosting SWAG Saturdays, René!
flew delta for first time a couple months ago…was pretty impressed.
How long do you think it will take to see if all the SkyMile 2015 changes (Keep Descending!) has thinned the herd of medallions?
Hi Rene,
Love Delta Airlines and love your blog!
I was playing around and visiting other Boarding Area blogs…. Delta Points got them beat hands down. Not sucking up to you, Rene, but this space is more user friendly, informative, less busy with ads and additions we care nothing about. I like it when you get fired up about somthing. 🙂 Thanks for a great blog to visit.
Still waiting on my rollover MQM’s as a Platinum!
I worked hard to hit DM last year and was able to use GUC one way on trips to SYD and HKG, although one upgrade was after I boarded and that GUC still shows as unused. Wonder if that’s a fluke and I got lucky.
Could use this for our family trip in feb!
Looking forward to the return of HOOU! Lowly Gold – never get upgraded, it seems.
It’s not a weekend w/out swag Saturday.
Have to say I really like the Delta crossover with SPG and that’s a good reason to fly them.
More lounge reviews please 🙂
Nice giveaway. Sadly, many years ago, I lost miles to Delta transferred from American Express Membership Miles, from confusing letter re 2 different types of accounts expiring; they wouldn’t reconsider. Now, they don’t have miles expire, which is progress, but if they’re hard to book, then it is still problematic. But it’s time for me to take another look at Delta.
Do you have any kind of yearly travel insurance? Do you think it is worth it for the medical evacuation possibility during international travel?
Thanks for the blog!
Thanks for keeping us updated on all things Delta………GREATEST WEBSITE EVER!
I am still annoyed that Delta made us pay for a flight into Paris last spring; they said no reward seats were available.
We bought the tickets anyway due to scheduling issues with ther airlines, but we were shocked to find a half-empty flight both ways!
That is when we said we would blow the rest of our miles on a lowly trip to Florida, and focus on other airlines.
I still follow and like your blog!
Can I book a one-way award ticket with a stop over? Can I do it if the trip is within north america/north america and the caribbean?
keep up the great work. Really enjoy the blog.
More people read your blog than you know. I am one, Hawaii-based, and share your love-disappointment relationship with Delta.
January was the first month in well over a year where I didn’t fly even once.
love your reports! would like to hear even more about Delta loyalty program changes going forward.
Thanks for keeping us updated on the changes at Delta. And for the great giveaways. Keep up the good work.
An article on which programs you can get status on from only credit card spend.
Thanks not only for the time and effort it takes to write this blog, Rene, but thanks also for answering individual email questions. Delta could learn a thing or two – or three+ – from you!
I will drop from DM to PM at end of February. Will my ticket booked and partially flown as DM in January get DM mileage for both legs when the second is flown when I am PM or will I get PM mileage for the return? Also enjoy the blog and keep up the good work and helpful tips!
What’s your favorite DL trick that you like to use? Mine is make sure 1st is BOARDED full when I don’t get the upgrade…yet!
Do you think delta will eliminate complementary companion upgrades? Not that companions clear often anyway.
Just found your blog through Boarding Area over the holidays. Really enjoying, learning soooo much!
Great site, love the daily updates and postings.
I am a PM and try to fly exclusively with Delta for business / pleasure. Definitely a very well run company. When global oil prices started to drop I began buying shares in DAL and have enjoyed a nice return to date. Curious if anyone else invests directly with Delta.
I am sitting here at lax wondering if you could give us some pointers for using free same day confirmed ( as gold medallion) to improve chances for upgrade or bump.
Enjoy the blog. Too bad Delta does not follow your suggestions.
Great article on upgrade certs.
Thanks as always for a great job on the blog.
Got a big month of flying for work coming up in February!
Thanks for the contest!
Your blog is quite informative! Thanks for all great tips!
I need to win something!!
Delta or AA? I don’t know who to love in 2015.
Your thoughts on when delta goes to cuba.
Sad to see what Delta has done to CVG (Cincinnati) in the last 10 or so years. Remember Concourse C? Also, remember the several nonstops a day to/from Europe?
I love the blog. and the Swag Saturdays dont hurt either. Each week I’m excited to see what you’ll come up with next to give away.
Thanks!
Love the blog! It provides great insight into Delta. Burned most of my Skymiles in 2014. Reading the blog helps me figure out my future strategy with Delta. Thanks!
Check check is this thing on? Had to toss in some audio tech humor. Is there a term when you hit your MQD waiver before your rollover posts? I need to see more green bars.
Looking forward to my trip from LAX to FCO and DUB this spring. 3 Alitalia Magnifica tix using Skymiles.
Do you think Delta will change the Million Miler program to add a revenue component?
Great blog!! Thanks for keeping us informed about DL.
skymiles….one way now…..saahweeeeeeet!
would love more lounge reviews!
I want to have more visibility on PM’s and DM’s losing upgrades on days that they normally have received upgrades in the past. I wish there was a way to track year over year upgrade percentages to see if Delta is pulling the rug on their faithful medallions in order to achieve more profit.
When are my MQMs going to roll over? How hard is it Delta? My phone knows when the year changes. Why can’t your computers?
Enjoy your blog!
I’m only staying with Delta on “must fly with Delta” trips…..and lounge access (when I’m solo….sorry honey)…..otherwise, “Hello AA!”
500k Skypesos to burn through so I guess I’ll be working on a couple of aspirational trips as I say goodbye to Delta….genuinely sad they destroyed my “go-to” program…..
Never really a Delta flyer, but reading your posts, I might reconsider.
I’m not sure if you saw that Delta’s SEA-HND service was stripped by the Department of Transportation and given to American for an LAX-HDN route. I read both the American petition and the Delta reply and I hope this is a wake up call for Delta about customer service. I couldn’t believe how often the SEA-HND service was cancelled (they seldom ran flight more than 7 days a month).
Thank you for your blog!
A great blog for all things Delta – I am well-informed to be prepared to use my “SkyPesos” for a trip to London!
Enjoy the blog.
Keeps me up to date on Delta changes.
doing a topic on advice using miles to upgrade from paid flights
as always enjoy al lof your blogs here to a meet /eat maybe do a west coast an east cost as in lax an msp after 5 yrs plat made DM who knows maybe dealt or status match on alsaka
You should do a survey post on who is still waiting for rollover.
Looking for ways to increase MQMs on short hops. How much does seat class affect MQMs?
Wish Delta biz class price was lower in Feb for my biz trip to Germany.
When are we gonna see you do a TR on INTL mileage run!?!?
Really enjoy your blog! Thanks for all of the tips!
*Taps mic* Is this thing on?
Thanks for always looking out for us, Rene!
Sad to see butt in the seat losing to $ spent on ticket. Hard to maintain loyalty (which I’ve done in the past). I used to pick Delta when I had a choice, even if the price was slightly more. Rethinking that decision….
My wife and I are loyal Delta flyers but do not fly often enough to attain any significant status. I believe we are somewhere below “COAL” medallion status and thus doomed to fly in “steerage” forever. But, it sure would be nice to have a Sky Club pass and a HOOU for our trip to Rio de Janeiro next month! Pretty please???
Happy Saturday! I’d like to hear more about effective ways to thank a great FA, GA, etc as well as how to effectively complain to get something done about a problem employee.
On a recent flight, everyone in the gate area was roundly berated over the course of 30 minutes by a young and full of himself GA who threatened at various times to “personally humiliate” anyone who tried to sneak a pink-tagged bag onto the plane (because “we can track them in real time! I’ll come onto the aircraft, find the bag and personally humiliate you!”), call the port authority on anyone who was standing too far into the concourse (the sentiment behind which I agreed with, but threatening to sic the port authority on passengers seemed a bit much), etc.
It always seems like the comment/complaints to Delta go into a black hole of automatic copy and paste responses, so is there a good way to actually effectively complain?
Thanks for the blog. You seem to be pretty disillusioned with Delta lately, but I’m glad you’re still here doing what you do. For some of us, despite everything DL still makes the most sense, and you help us to make sense of things
Have been reading about mileage runs the last several months. Still haven’t done one but maybe I’ll take the plunge this year. I’ve tried to get to the ITA Matrix Airline Search screens to check out opportunities from Detroit, but haven’t found a way to access the screens shown in postings. Would appreciate a link or information on how to do so.
Thanks!
Can always use HOOU
Interesting read in your blog about the erstwhile relationship with Delta and Sky Miles. And now we know the rest of the story.
I would like to see some coverage on strategic redemption of AeroMexico miles. AeroMexico is an under reported on program within the Skyteam network.
Thanks Rene. Just got 2014 & 2015 $200 credits on Platinum AmEx. Thanks for the advice.
Keep giving us advice!
PM for the first time ever! Flying domestic this week and so far 1/4 on the UG inside the window. I’m estimating 3/4 for the trip which would best my 50% avg w/ gold last year. So DM stay away 🙂
Why does it seem like the better status to you get the upgrades seem to come less. When I was silver I tended to get upgraded on half the 24 trips I took a year. Now that I’m platinum I haven’t been upgraded but once.
Won two free drink tickets from another blog that I never received. Would love to get this!
I’d like to see some more tips on the best way of earning miles now that SkyMiles 2015 is upon as that’s no longer flying Delta.
I’m looking forward to some low winter fares to Europe. Also, have you stopped texting when excellent fares are discovered?
I enjoy reading your blog. Just made GM and should make PM this year with a nice boost from my Amex cards.
If you are flying domestic F you should be able to get into the SkyClub!
I will be using my Delta AMEX Res. Companion certificate soon. Wish me luck that I’m able to find a “fair price” when using the Cert.
Thanks for the previous tips on where and how to use it on the Delta site.
Rene,
Would love to know if the MQD requirement for 2015 status will, after 2.28, result in fewer Diamonds? Will Delta share the number of 2014 and 2015 Diamond medallions?
Where do you think the Delta/Air France relationship is headed? It’d be great if there was a better fit with the main Delta European partner.
I’m one of those who still is waiting on rollover MQMs. Will be flying quite a bit soon and could really use the Day Pass (and HOOU chit)!
How about a detailed post on redeeming miles on SkyTeam partner Kenya Airways.
Great blog!
A ranking of all the major Delta hubs from your favorite to least favorite.
I am really enjoying your blog. Do you think the dropping gas prices (and rising airline profits) will impact perks to medallions?
Moving from GM to PM has gotten me a 75% rate on my upgrades. Not sure how this is working out in my favor, but I’m not complaining.
Appreciate your honest insights about Delta- the good, the bad and the ugly. I’ve learned a lot from you over the years and have you to thank for the tips in attaining and keeping my Delta Diamond status despite all the changes and devaluations in the Skymiles program.
