The above were not my headphones. I mean, as a kid in the 70’s, I fondly remember talking into the plug end and hearing myself sound like a TV announcer (be nice I was like 7 years old)! If you are over 40 you maybe remember them as well.
Well I kinda got nostalgic on a recent flight when I saw the old jack in the seat. I mean, not sayin’ my old Delta 757 was old or anything but wow.
Another good sign your jet is really old is the head “clonker” drop down video displays. Nothing like a shared we all get to see the same VHS loaded entertainment on the plane. Gosh it must be a fun job at Delta to mix modern video to VHS each day for these old birds!
Then we have CRJ200’s. Gosh I hate them. I know some, like MJ on Travel, have fond memories of them when they came online years ago as a modern update to the SAAB turbo props, but when the exit door looks like it has been opened and closed 100x times, i.e. removed and put back that many times, it does not instill confidence in the old bird.
Now we all know Delta is “trying” to down size the fleet of CRJ200’s to a much lower level (apparently everywhere but to SBN that is or AZO – almost a 2 hour ride)! At least they have all but given up cleaning them as what is the point for a jet this old right or worry about things like replacing a missing tray table!

Are these Delta(Mainline) operated jets or the old Pinnacle/Skywest/commuter feeder airline jets?
I know they’re painted Delta but it seems that’s about as much true Delta there is to these.

When they get rid of CRJ200s in PIA and MLI it will be tiime to celebrate. MLI does use 900s on MLI-ATL. The MLI-DTW and MLI-MSP routes are still 200s. At least they get me on my way.
It would help if they had wi-fi.
I fly mostly on Delta for work, and haven’t really noticed any of the planes I’ve been on being in that bad of shape. Even their old DC-9-50s were still in pretty good shape. Though these were Delta operated flights not the partner regional airlines dba Delta.
We were on an old, old 737 from DTW to SEA last Sunday…I cannot believe they still fly these overhead monitors that are part broken dinosaurs…best airline in the industry…sure thing.
On a route I fly (DTW-PHX) the commodious, comfortable old 757 has been retired and replaced with a new A320 with all the modern “improvements” – narrower,harder seats, skimpier legroom even in EC. The seats in the old bird were like a dream compared with these!!!

I am very fond of the MD-88/90s.
Sure, some of Delta’s planes are old, but almost all have wifi, and the seats are generally good. I’m not going to complain, as long as the older planes are safe, and get me where I need to go (Delta is REALLY good at keeping old birds flying safely, so I’m not concerned about that aspect).
I do despise the CRJ-200s. I’m 6’3″, and I can’t even stand up in the aisle without having to stoop. There are markets where they make sense, but Delta often runs them CVG-DTW, and CVG-MSP. The latter is a 2 hour flight. A CRJ-200 is completely unacceptable for a longer flight between hubs.
The sooner the CRJ-200s are gone, the better.

I flew a CRJ200 from San Antonio to Salt Lake City (2hr 45min) flight! I was sitting in first but the age of the plane was really showing. The windows were scratched and faded, there were rips and marks on the seat backs and the overhead air nozzles were caked in a brown goo… It was really bad. The old planes are my biggest complaint with Delta.
