Need I say more than Coke & Taco? Oh my. This has dates open all of 2015 and is a B class fare that gives 150% bonus MQMs. This will NOT last. Book this one a TON. OH MY oh MY for a MSP run. WOW! Look at this:
Cost $147
5,698 MQMs at 2.5CPM
Bookable on Delta.com
Just stunning numbers! Mind blown! Truly! I hope you get how amazing the numbers are on this. And out of MSP? Just – WOW!
FYI – Yeah I booked one of these. I would love to book about 20 of these but my next year is too crazy too plan for yet. But I had a $100 ETV so for $47 bucks I jumped on one. I may have to work out a dinner with MSP readers pre-run if I do take the flights. Long time away so will advise! 🙂

Great price but too bad you only earn around 1100 miles instead of the 6000+.
@FB – I do not care ONE BIT about the Skymiles. I MR for MQMs. That is the ONLY reason to MR! I get FULL MQMS as you can see!

Hi Rene!
Been lurking a long time at this is my first MR! Im in for 2 of these, back to back, Jan 26-27 and 27-28.
I am trying to position from RDU but can’t find a reasonable price to MSP. I have some United miles I’m willing to burn so I was thinking about using those as there is saver ability available on the dates I need.
Your thoughts? I used all my bump credits I had left on the MSP-EAT tickets so trying to keep this as low price as possible. You think the RDU-MSP price will drop in the next couple of weeks? Should I wait it out?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
@JM – Hey FUN! Mine will be on 23APRIL as FYI to readers and plan to do a reader dinner thing in MSP on the 22APRIL. On to your question. Who knows on fares. If you are NOT doing Delta but sure to give yourself a LARGE buffer like arrive the day before in case your united flights go wonkie! Maybe look at FlexPerks (you have time to get card and do spend and buy a DL ticket)? Sorry not better news!
@rene Aww bummer, no worries! Thanks for the quick response and the advice.
Also, at one point, I believe I saw a post on deltapoints about tips for going on a mileage run but I can’t find it now, sound familiar?
I just want to be prepared for my grueling 3 day adventure! 🙂

i was considering this, and I will do a lot of crazy things for MRs but a Dash 8 is not one of them. I am crying uncle on this one.
@Craig – its like a 20 min flight each way. The rest is DL 737s

sorry for the newbie question, but could someone please explain the math behind the 5698 MQMs? I booked 2 of these deals, and I love the MQMs, but looking at the details of the booking (MSP –> SEA 1394 + SEA –> EAT 99) * 2 * 150%, I can’t figure how 5698 comes up?? I get 4479, so I’m clearly missing something.
Dang new math 😉
@CEO – B fares, as you can see in the screen shots, pay 50% bonus. So, you get the extra MQMs. BTW never say sorry for ANY questions. We are all here to help each other #WINNING!
.
BTW just booked one more day. Just can’t say no to this deal. Well that and I have a ton of Delta vouchers to burn! 🙂
Thanks Rene, yes I see the 150% but I still can’t add it up… I see 1394+99 one way = 1493. And then 150% = 2239. And then going both ways I get to 4478. How do we get to 5698? (just can’t figure out the math ;-))
I booked the 2/4 deal similar to the example (leaving at 7:50pm instead) and then a day trip on 4/15 for $141. Super cool!
@CEO – Just do a dummy booking on Delta.com and you should see 5698 if you go MSP-SEA-EAT-SEA-MSP. I tested both as my wife GM & me DM and numbers are the same. Yes it is a truly stunning deal and with B class upgrades should be good too. Will be fun to see how many of us there are on these flights!
My bookings both show 5698 – I just can’t understand the math! Would love to know how the calculation is done…
@CEO – oh just looked keep in mind 500 mile minimums! 🙂
Ah, Rene you’re brilliant! Thanks 🙂

Rene, I would *love* to have dinner with you in MSP (I live here) on 4/22! Keep us posted. 🙂
@Cate! – Post on the way later next week. Will do a reader dinner in MSP on 22APRIL15 and in ATL on 1MAY15!
Terrific! I’ve got you on my schedule. Hopefully no snowstorms that day – it IS Minnesota, after all! 😉

Well,
I got lucky and scheduled one in the current year! So I am maxing my miles, and MQM’s
@John DELTA – nice – well done
So, just finished reviewing my itinerary with DELTA.
I’ll get 7,902 MQM’s on this flight, largely due to the Double Bonus MQM promotion.
Thanks Rene!

Want to do this run but can find a good rate from NYC area to position me to MSP. High $300’s to get to MSP and nothing on Delta. Any thoughts?

@JT – Look a drive to another airport to position. I am driving 2 hrs, twice, to MDW to fly up to MSP because the MDW-MSP is $161 when SBN-MSP is $600 🙂
I did look at ISP (10min) JFK, LGA, EWR and HPN all high $300. Don’t think its gonna happen. Keep posting….. Especially JFK/LGA:)

So, rookie question here: assuming one meets the required spend during the year, if you booked 5 of these, you would clear into silver medallion? Not that silver is a huge deal, but it’s a start.
@s – yep. 25k mqm plus you would need mqd spend 3k or amex exempt via 25k spend.

Thanks Rene,
Such a great deal for us MSP hub people. Couldn’t find any the balance of this year. I booked five, all in May and September of next year. We go south early January thru April, so the earlier dates next year didn’t work. All but two are turns the same day. Even staying over one night gave me 3.5 CPM with connections in SEA and SLC. Thanks again, please keep looking for the MSP stuff. You are great!

It’s all over. Looks like DL changed the fare early 11/17.
Yep.
She’s done. At least we had a good stretch of time to gather up a few (or several?) before it was over. I’m outta here on my first in a few hours…
Thanks Rene and DMR blog! 😉

So, for those doing the 11:52pm arrival and 6am departure on this MR, what is your plan? Hotel for a few hours? Just stay at the airport? Can you even stay at the airport?
I saw two motels on Hotels.com that offer airport pick-up, Red Lion and a hotel downtown. Lion is about $90 a night. I am doing a total of 7 and 3 are day turns.
J
@S, according to the FlyerTalk thread, the airport closes after the late arrival of the SEA flight.
I am providing a small report and have forwarded Rene some photos. The EAT airport is an experience in itself!
@John – oh my I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Gosh you all are the BEST! 😉
I am on a couple of those 11:52pm arrivals. You must leave the airport.
I am a Washington resident…currently in the middle of one of these…
Will provide a lot more when I finish.
