For 5 years now Rick has hosted the Chicago Seminars. I have been there for all of them. I went the first time as a newbie and my head just could not contain all the amazing info I was hearing. I took notes but it was all so overwhelming.
The day before the event it was fun to both catch up with some readers and meet some new ones. Sharing tips and tricks we have all learned along the way makes travel, especially Delta travel, just that much better.
Friday, the first official day of the event, I hosted the Delta seminar. I will not share my slideshow as without narration is does not make much sense. I did talk about how to get what we want when flying Delta and many other bits that I only share each year in Chicago like how to avoid and work around the dreaded FR. I also touched on the 3 for 2 flying with Skymiles that now appears DEAD (thanks Delta).
Saturday, after sleeping in a little bit, I listened to my friend MJ on travel talk about cruise ships. I have not been on a ship for years and really want to try it again (just never again on NCL). Neat stuff from MJ as always and some good input from the group as well!
Then back to the hotel bar for a beer before dinner out at Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse.
If you have not been here before, and you like a great steak, you need to go. And yes, as was pointed out to me in the photo above, I do look like a giant bumble bee hugging a cow.
As for the steaks, they were SO nummy. Due to the light I don’t think you can fully appreciate just how good it was. It was just about perfect!
Sunday afternoon I was host for the Delta breakout session and we had a good “round table” discussion about Delta. MJ was there to help share some insights on Expert Flyer and those changes as well as a few Diamonds who I know well who shared their best tips. Just great stuff and worth catching a late flight to not miss out on!
Once again it was a great annual gathering of frequent flyer points fans. I do not go to what seems like weekly FTU events mostly because I don’t have time but if you want a fun weekend of comaraderie and a massive amount of information about points travel – plan now for next year’s Chicago Seminars! – René
