I am clearly an SPG fan. Maybe not as far as I am a Delta fanboy but I like Sheratons,  Westins and the SPG family of hotels. They have a solid product, a consistent product and treat me as a valued elite each and EVERY time I stay at their hotels (well other than that one time in MKE that is).

I have been to the Sheraton Gateway LAX before and I was happy to return. Lars-Erik and I decided to share a twin room (yeah I am “that” point cheap) otherwise the location would have happily upgraded me to a corner king suite. I am, as a Platinum, offered this most times and am very disappointed when it’s not an option.

The room was on the club floor, and while not necessary since the key card grants club access, it is nice not to have to change floors to go to the club.

The room was just fine. The bed was soft, the room was clean as well as the bathroom (but could use an update). All the towels were clean and bright. A robe was clean and hanging (really like that)! There were even chocolates on the bed – nice little touch.

You know it really is hard for a hotel to do all the little things right and the Sheraton LAX “checked all the boxes.”

If I had to nit pick on one tiny thing, it was that one of the outlets in the desk lamp did not work. That is how hard I had to look to find anything to gripe about!

The lounge, that we enjoyed for breakfast, was great for a continental breakfast.

I am one of those who likes a light breakfast anyway so this was just what I needed.

Plus, I really was hoping for an upgrade and to be able to enjoy lunch on the way to ATL but it was looking dicey as to if I was going to get it or not, that is I was right on the bubble, but back to my hotel review for now.

I am not a coffee drinker but the setup seemed complete for those who need java to get going!

Plenty of room for seating.

In the long single club room. TV was not too loud either (this can be really annoying to me).

There is a small work station. The only thing that was free however was printing of boarding passes. But that was all I needed to get my HOOU anyway (just in case I did not upgrade).

One of my fellow bloggers that I will not mention did not really care for the hotel due to shuttle issues. I agree it is important for an “airport” location to have timely service to the airport, but my wait for pickup was not overly long and the service to the airport was just as efficient. I will say this, on some runs I have just missed the “every ½ hour shuttle” and I in that case just use UBER. There are larger things to stress over than a quick free ride to the airport.

I look forward to my next stay the Sheraton Gateway LAX and will choose it again when needing a stay near LAX as it is a solid value at 7000 SPG points (4000 would be better 😉 ). Just to show you how great they were, when I ended up needing to cancel due to not making it out to LAX until the next day on my return, they allowed me to redeposit my points when they could have said no. That makes me REALLY want to go back again and again. Class act Sheraton LAX and well done! – René

Thanks for the review. I almost booked here on my short overnight at LAX during my upcoming AUA-HNL run but decided to hit up the Courtyard LAX. Hope I didn’t make a bad decision. And yes shuttle service should never be a big deal with UBER in the city. Tons of drivers who just made a drop off at airport right there for a quick fare.

I like some of the SPG properties and have gotten upgrades as my Platinum Amex (not delta) gives me status as a perk, but I am Platinum on Marriott and they have an agreement with United that gives me silver on United. Not that I will ever use it, but nice to have if work sends me on a trip and the UA price is a lot less than the DL price.
