Delta – Alaska’s home town airline (wait I thought that was Atlanta)! 🙂 You would think the slogan has changed with all the effort Delta is making to take over SEA, that is Seattle, with so many new routes, flights and offers.
From double miles and elite points to all sorts of targeted offers to grab customers away from Alaska Airlines, Delta is in full court press mode. Well HERE is the latest (updated) one. Just look at the perks:
“Living in Alaska is already a bonus, but when you fly on a Delta or Delta Connection®-marketed and –operated flight you’ll receive even more. All Alaskans receive two free checked bags each for up to eight travel companions through December 31, 2014, plus the convenience of expanded service starting in June.
And for a limited time, register by October 31, 2014, to receive:

Get Gold Medallion status through February 2015 by earning 8K MQMs or 8 MQSs within 60 days after registration.
30% DISCOUNT

$25 E-CERTIFICATE
Purchase an Economy Comfort™ ticket by December 31, 2014, then fly and watch a one-time $25 land in your SkyMiles account. With Economy Comfort, enjoy prime seating at the front of the Economy cabin, Priority Boarding, quicker deplaning, and more legroom. ” – Delta.com
Wow! To be able to go from NO status to GOLD by just flying 8,000 MQMs is simple. Plus, per the wording, YOU DON’T HAVE TO FLY just earn 8k MQMs and you could do that with the Delta Reserve AMEX “Airline Travel Card“. (I have a feeling you will see the wording in this promo change to “fly” rather that “earn” very soon btw).
Anyway, it is fun to see the two airlines duke it out to be the best out west. You ready to move out west yet? – René

I live near DTW and refuse to fly Delta. Why would I move to Seattle to ignore them.
I received this offer, but would have to be a fool to give up MVP Gold for Delta Gold.
It stinks living out west and traveling with Delta. Most of my travel is back east towards Detroit or Atlanta, and to keep flying Delta is now costing me more. With skymiles2015, I am jumping ship and going to AS or AA.
I’ve been flirting with United and American, and the flight experience is no different than Delta, other than it has saved me money.
What a joke. What is DL’s plan? To create another Cincinnati? How did that turn out for Delta?
