Today Delta announced it is again flying the direct route between NYC & Sweden’s capital city Stockholm. But I would avoid this one and you can read more about the announcement HERE on Delta.com. The details are:
- DL0203 Departs Stockholm (ARN) 13:15 & arrives New York (JFK) 15:47
June – Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat
July – Mon, Tue, Thu, Sat
- DL0202 Departs New York (JFK) 21.39 & arrives Stockholm (ARN) 11:45am (+1 day)
June – Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri, Sun
July – Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun
The bird is a 757-200 and strangely the PR release says it only has 15 business seats (one for crew rest maybe?). These are showing as angled seats on the Delta.com seat map.
If you were thinking that Delta promised us all FULL FLAT seats after June 1st to Europe (and one of the explanations for the 125,000 low level Skymiles seats) then you missed one tiny bit in the wording. The last PR statement said:
“Delta Becomes Only U.S. Carrier with Full Flat-Bed Seats Featuring Direct-Aisle Access on All Widebody Overseas Flights” – Bold MINE
The 757-200 is NOT a widebody jet. Delta is working to upgrade many 757s to full flat but it will take a while. Do you think Delta is going to offer this flight for 100,000 Skymiles in business since it not full flat seats? (I am kidding ya know)! – René

curious how every summer seasonal flight commands a PR to make it sound like a brand new route
@patricia – yep that is why I added “Re” to my post title.
Rene, are these the old birds NWA used to cover thin Europe routes from BOS or DTW?
@Adam – I believe so as well as PHL to Europe and some transcon flights. IE it is the REALLY old angled flat seats. They are not all bad for being awake I must say.
I don’t think I would be awake between 21 :39pm and 11:45am unless I was in these seats.
I took this flight round-trip last summer in BE and the seat was still quite comfortable. How else are you going to use SkyMiles for a non-stop flight to Sweden in business class?
