i need to stop procrastinating

Someone in my family was always late. Late for just about everything. Another one was always early; often a lot early. I don’t like stress so I have adopted the latter in my life. 1-2hrs early for a flight? No problem, I can relax and enjoy rather than starting a trip stressed-out.

Same goes for my MQMs or Medallion Qualifying Miles. I will end the year with an extra 100k+ to rollover. I like being early. But some are procrastinators. I get that life does tend to get in the way sometimes.

For a chance to win, via Random.org, all I need from you is to tell me – are you a procrastinator or not? Be honest now, neither answer will improve your chance to win! – Rene

    I am NOT a Delta/sky team
Procrastinator if #time is on my side
    🙂
    Best blog!

  2. Alex (@NoviceFlyer) says:

Not usually one, especially when it comes to flying/travel!

  3. Jerm says:

    yep

  4. steve says:

When it comes to travel, I’m not a procrastinator.
When it comes to everything else I am…
    !

  5. GregM says:

I tend be early for appointments and important events; however, I might have a tendency to be a procrastinator for some onerous tasks from time to time.

  6. Delta Dave says:

It’s not that I procrastinate… It’s that I have more important things higher on my list that need to be done sooner. Lol. Yeah okay maybe I am a big procrastinator. I tend to put off things in all aspects with the exception of actual travel. When I travel I am always at the airport 1-2 hours earlier than I need to be either because I don’t want to miss my flight or maybe it’s because I just really enjoy the sky club lounge.

  7. P T says:

Hate to admit it, but yes, I am.

  8. fb says:

I have my moments of both and usually it’s the opposite of what I need to be at that moment.

  9. Rich C says:

Procrastinator! Except this time as I am I in need of some swag”

  10. Skilled travel says:

When it comes to booking flights I sometimes procrastinate. I wish all airlines had policies like jetblue allowing you to call and receive a full credit of the difference if your flight price dropped after purchase.

  11. Deltasegmentflyer says:

As with most people it depends. For time certain events almost always early.

  12. Nick F. says:

Definitely a procrastinator. I’m getting married next weekend, and there are many things left to do!

I did, however, have the honeymoon planed a year ahead of time (utilizing miles, points, and free room certs…obviously).

  13. Ken says:

I hate to admit it Rene but I’m a procrastinator. This is for your swag from last week, right? 🙂

  14. Ed says:

    Only in some domains.

  15. Doug says:

No, I like to fly as far as I can as soon as I can.

  16. Dwight G says:

    Procrastinator on everything but MQM’s.

  17. Teresa P says:

    Definitely a procrastinator!

  18. Jeff says:

I am not a procrastinator for travel but my wife makes up for both of us.

  19. Dougie says:

Definitely not, I tend to be on the early side. Not gate lice early, but enough to feel relaxed in the boarding process.

  20. Steve says:

I’m not. Of course I’m not. But let me think about it for a while and I’ll get back to you…

  21. Denise L says:

I am not a procrastinator and I like to get to the airport early so I am not stressed.

  22. Nick O says:

On balance, I am not. I do hate yard work though, so I do attempt to put that off

  23. Smoke says:

Yes, but not when I travel – the consequences are too ugly!

  24. Nick B. says:

Procrastinator. Definitely like to wait (except for boarding, then I’m an early bird)

  25. Gordon L says:

I do tend to put things off, but most of the time I perform better with a bit of pressure on me to get er done.

  26. Spencer F says:

For some things, yes; others no

  27. Mikey says:

I am a procrastinator, but that said, I do my best work at the last minute.

  28. Bethany says:

Hmmmm I can be a procrastinator when getting ready to go out for a night on the town lol but when it comes to travel? NO! For example: I like to book my flights on sale or atleast quite a few months in advance 😀

  29. Josh B says:

I am definitely a procrastinator!! Unfortunately that often costs me $ on things like flights since I tend to book last minute. :/

  30. Marc says:

Yes, especially when it comes to school work

  31. Randy says:

I am a procrastinator in almost everything except getting skymiles before 1/1/15 a day that will live in infamy.

  37. Vicente says:

Yes, with making travel arrangements, which really costs me money sometimes.

  38. Shiv says:

    Yes I am.

  39. John M says:

    Big time procrastinator.

  44. Dale says:

    Unfortunately, yes

  45. Grayson says:

Total procrastinator. In fact I kept putting off posting for last week’s swag Saturday. I will end the year with 65K+ MQM for rollover but that’s about it, besides travel I am all over the place.

  46. David says:

    yes, i am

Definitely a procrastinator but that’s when my best work comes out because I’m under pressure and all stressed out lol

  52. jeff says:

Not so much anymore, though some of the really unpleaasant tasks I must do at my medical job get put off for a few days. I like a clean slate.

  53. Brian M says:

i tend to be a procrastinator, but I arrive early for flights to reduce that stress

In general, yes, I tend to procrastinate. However, I like to get to the airport very early – particularly if I’m relaxing in the Skyclub.

  56. Adam says:

Depends on what….it’s all about prioritizing. In order to be on the ball, there are a few things that require immediate attention but the rest can wait!

  57. Mikey says:

I plan to go to a – Procrastinators Anonymous meeting, but I keep putting it off.

  60. Vh says:

I have a natural tendency to procrastinate, but work hard not to. As far as flying, I don’t procrastinate. I get there early so I don’t have to stress out about being late.

  61. Arthur H says:

I tend to procrastinate, except when I see cheap fares. Then I just buy and figure it out later.

    Big procrastinator

  65. scott says:

i’m a procrastinator for sure, just applied to 60k ink

  66. DaninSTL says:

I’m not about travel and credit cards but can be about other tasks that I don’t care to do, like work. 🙂

  67. Ryan Williams says:

not a procrastinator at all. i plan weeks in advance

  68. Scott says:

    I’ll tell you later…

  69. Ana says:

    Yes I am

  70. Richard says:

Procrastinator here. Technology has enabled me to do that. Because so many things can be done online, I put stuff off. I live off my digital calendar, and if I forget to put something to do into it, it never gets done. When I do put stuff into it, and I’m electronically alerted to accomplish something, it’s too easy to just swipe it away…

  71. Noah Mark Blaustein says:

I’ll be sure to provide you a detailed answer this question…….later.

  72. dejamo says:

Of course I am, and Delta made me that way by waiting on “enhancements”.

  73. J. says:

    No.

  74. Gail says:

I put the “pro” in procrastinator. I am definitely a pro…in fact, I hesitated to comment. My husband is on the other end of the spectrum so it kinda evens out in the end.

  75. Ben says:

    I will comment later.

  76. Allison says:

I am nearly always early while the other half is not. Makes life interesting when we travel together.

  77. Dave says:

When it comes to travel, I’m mostly a non-procrastinator. Some other things, like cutting the lawn, I fall a bit farther behind 🙂

Enjoy the blog – thanks for the good info.

  78. Michelle O says:

I like to be early when I’m traveling…enjoy waiting in the Skyclub. Sometimes I put off other tasks.

  79. Alexander ivanov says:

Well, I would like to think I’m on time for everything – but with so many things in my life, I once was late for my flight (jut because I didn’t wake up), came to class to realize that our professor was announcing an exam I did not study for 🙂 although with the cc spend I’m good and on time!

    A recovering procrastinator!

  89. Jim says:

    I definitely am

  91. Mark R. says:

    No. Never.

    Yes indeed 🙂

Let me get back to you tomorrow on this one! 🙂

  117. Dan says:

    Yes, I am.

  118. Carl says:

Nope, love the feeling of checking something off of my to do list!

  135. Shawn says:

    Yes.

  136. Michael J. says:

Always a procrastinator. I usually don’t get around to replying to your SWAG posts until several days *after* you’ve announced a winner! 🙂

I’m one who gets to appointments early. If I’m not five minutes early, I consider myself as late. A pet peeve is when people arrive twenty minutes late and never mention it. However, those who constantly run late seem to miss a flight. Go figure!

  165. Melissa T. says:

Yeah with some stuff, but I’m never late to appointments.

I don’t procratinate as a rule, but I suppose it’s all relative to who’s keeping tabs.

    Yes, totally!

  171. Candy says:

I guess I am a procrastinator. Putting my weekly highlight posting to my boss off until tomorrow morning.
    Rather read Rene’s post.

  174. John says:

Wait. Let me think about it.

  175. Liam says:

    I’m a procrastinator.

My ex used to get tired of asking me to do something and I would answer I’ll do it tomorrow. So finally she snapped and threatened that if I said I’ll do it tomorrow one more time there would be hell to pay.

So she asked me again and since I did not want to make her mad I told her” Sure Honey, I’ll do it next week.”

    True story.
