My 24,000 Arrival shopping portal points w/ Delta AMEX purchase have posted!

gift cards make 4x points

For those who are smart enough to hold both the Barclays Arrival card and are Delta Flyers and are working on meeting the spend to be MQD exempt spending goals on your Delta AMEX card, this was an amazing deal while it lasted.

I purchased 2x$3000 (in my case business gift cards as the max for personal is $5000) I got 6000 Skymiles and knocked off $6000 of MQD exempt spending by using my Delta AMEX Reserve card to purchase. Plus, there is the value of the Arrival points. 24,000 are worth $240 and when I redeem them I get 2,400 back worth another $24 on top of that!

Right now, they are only offering 2x points for AMEX gift card purchase so there are other better options like TopCashBack to pick up your AMEX gift cards. I will be keeping an eye on the shopping portal because as soon as a 3x or higher offer is back I will be ON IT!

What to do with those gift cards once you have them? You can just spend them like a normal card or buy other things that will let you cash them out. Clearly it is smart to start with a small order to test the different ways to use them in your area.

As I talked about in the post on the 1st of this year, there are so many ways to meet your MQD exempt spending that it really should not be a major issue for most flyers. And as far as MQMs go, I hope you have been keeping up on DeltaMileageRun; if not you have missed out on deals like this:

  • Detroit to Las Vegas $260 and 3498MQMs
  • Los Angeles to Tel Aviv, Israel $764 and 15,894MQMs
  • Chicago to Los Angeles or San Diego $563 in 1st class and 7656MQMs

And I could go on and on but if you need a few MQMs you should be following along. And never forget you can very simply pick up both 10,000MQMs and 10,000 Skymiles with either the Delta Personal or Business Reserve cards! – René

Be Frugal is still at 3%, as of now.
I would get five dollars if you sign up using my referral, so thank you if you do:

@pawtim – happy to post your link you have been a great blog supporter! Txs – next, how has your experience been with them? Would rather get 2x TCB or Arrival if Be Frugal is not so great? (not saying they are just never used)!

Thanks. I only just signed up for Be Frugal this week, and made my first purchase, so I don’t yet know whether they will really pay out as readily as TCB, Barclay Boost or BC. I looked, but did not see anything on the Be Frugal website that cautions against using a coupon code or ordering gift cards larger than $500, so I went ahead and did both. (I’ve always done that through the other portals with no problems.)

Ever used ShopAtHome? I haven’t, but I see that they give a 7% rebate on Staples purchases… Staples charges a $6.95 fee for purchasing $100 visa gift cards, so it could be a free way to generate 5X UR points. Might be a hassle to unload a bunch of small denomination cards though.

@Pawtim – I have been burned with ShopAtHome. Just me, but I avoid them. Txs for feedback when you have it on Be Frugal.

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t realize that you could use the barclay shopping portal with a non-barclay card and still get points.

    Hi,
Thanks for the info! How much does it cost you to get the personalized cards? So, you do two separate orders of $3000?

    Thank you

Sorry, can you also do personalized (with your name) business gift cards? I’ve read the approval rate is higher for biz, but cant quite figure it out whether or not you can do personalized (with your name biz GC) since the cashiers are very OCD at checking the card matches the ID. Have you had any luck using a free code, such as FPMOM from Amex?
    Thanks Rene

@Maria – You can get your name on the biz cards too (I do). They spend the same as the personal ones. I pay for the $99/yr shipping and just eat the fee for the cards as don’t want to risk not getting 3-4x deal but other use code no problem so your call.
