HiltonSelect and skymiles

This one is worth a look at but not for everyone and this promo is NOT MY LINK btw. The higher end one of these two in the promotion is the one that caught my eye. For $449 for the 1st year you can get as a Delta flyer:

  • $200 credit for 1 night at a Hilton hotel (only Hilton btw)
  • $150 credit for a Delta flight
  • $40 per year GoGo credit (i.e. in-flight WiFi $10/ quarter)
  • $40 per year in-flight food credit ($10/ quarter)
  • 5,000 Skymiles worth at least $50

So basically, if you are going to spend in the next few months, $200 at a Hilton you are getting $480 in value for $449 for the membership.

HiltonSelect perks 5percent cash back

These folks are basically a travel agency. If you use them you can get 5% cash back, in the form of a check, for booking via them. You need to know, much like Delta Vacations post this morning, you should expect NOT to get any MQD credit as any travel agency may be using lower fares than we find at Delta.com and or consolidator fares. But, if you are MQD exempt and don’t care about MQDs and say spend $10,000 on Delta tickets this year it could net you $500 back. Again, not for all but if you then pay with say your Barclays Arrival card you are getting 2.2% more in travel money thus netting 7.2%. That is not all bad!

HiltonSelect perks store docs online and credit card info

Some other neat things they toss in is online storage of your credit cards so if on the road and stolen you can call them and they will call the companies for you. Could be nice. And, they offer online storage so if you want to have say a secure place to have a copy of your passport and other IDs in case you need them and they are lost they will be at a secure online place.

HiltonSelectPremier and skymiles

There are other perks as well that are harder to put real value on and after the 1st year you are going to be billed full price again if you do not cancel. Without the sign-up bonus, I don’t know if there is real full value here but for a year it could work out on the plus side for you. For those not detail oriented and don’t want to hassle with sending in copies of receipts and such to get all the rebates avoid this one. What do you think? A good deal or pass? – René

That 5% is pretty interesting… If this is confirmed to receive full MQMs then with just one Hilton stay, I’d say this is well worth it!

@Jake – the bonus is Skymiles not MQMs but it seems booking Delta tickets will earn MQMs but not MQDs.

    You forgot the $25/mo Restaurant.com certificate ($300/yr).

    Otherwise, meh.

@Darth – yes but it is worth in real money off at a restaurant $10-15 but is also a value yes.

I did receive MQDs when booking via expedia (also received some expedia points). So I wonder if you will receive MQDs if you only buy air ticket via this travel agent.

@AI – most of the time, but not always, expedia and the like do not have access to consolidator fares.

I just went through the terms and conditions. No restriction on where you book or on what rate to received $200 Hilton rebate. No restriction on where you book or on what fare to receive $150 Delta rebate. You have to book with them to receive 5% rebate on airfare. Only on domestic fares but no restriction on airlines. Still not clear on meeting spending requirements. 5% rebates on hotels are useless because you probably have to pay “best available rate”, which can be more than 5% higher than special rates such as AAA, MVP, Hyatt Elite, advance purchase rates, etc.

So as long as I pay published fare, which I always do anyway, do I get MQD credit and 5% rebate? That’ll be pretty sweet.

@AI – they may have a fare that is non-published and you will not know. That is the risk. Not always, but possible.

If it came with Hilton Diamond status, I’d be interested. But otherwise I don’t see the value.

looks to me like it’s mostly a bunch of rebates, wait 6-8 weeks here, wait 6-8 weeks there, submit boarding pass within 30 days after flight. not worth it.
