One thing about flying Delta to Grand Cayman, you have one flight choice a day out of ATL and that is a 10:AM departure. If you live in Atlanta, that is great; if you are connecting you have to start at another airport very early. So, my wife & I chose to take a night flight to ATL, overnight, and then continue on the next day to make the trip less stressful.
We decided to check out the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport since I have a bunch of IHG points and it would net cost me 18,000 points after rebate from my Chase IHG card (80k card & not my link).
We were extended a nice upgrade to the club floor with a King room. The room was nothing special but was clean, the WiFi worked and was free and the bed was reasonably soft. The temp in the room was fine and there were ample power outlets around. All just good and nice.
The bathroom small but fine. Clean, all the amenities you could want on hand and I had to search a bit for the hair dryer (it was in the closet outside the bath btw).
The club room was open 24/7 so you could go get a soda or water if you would like. The breakfast service was continental but nice. There was very good fruit, pastries as well as bacon, sausage, potatoes and scrabbled eggs. More than enough and nice for free.
How was the stay? It was good other than the fact that I seem to have a talent that no matter what hotel I choose the shuttle bus is always later does not come or something along those lines. Every hotel in Atlanta sent 2 or 3 shuttles while waiting for the Crown Plaza one. Then check-in took a very long time (only one rep for a while) since the shuttle was PACKED with so many who were waiting for a ride. Once a second rep showed up things got moving better, but it had been a long time since landing at this point. But the staff were very good and helpful and I would without question return to this hotel for a quick airport stay! – René
PS – Be sure and check back for SWAG Saturday at 1PM ET!
