It had been a long time since I had been down to the Sheraton Louisville Riverside on the Clarksville Indiana side of the river.
This worked out well as we had family to visit and needed another stay to make it over the top to at last get my Platinum status with SPG.
This hotel, as you can see from the opening photo, has a very nice view over the Ohio river and of the Louisville skyline.
There is access to the lobby from a smaller west side main parking lot and a larger east side one as well. Both are well lit and you can walk to many restaurants along the river in just minutes also with great views of the city.
Right at the entrance is a bar area and the business center open to all guests. The restaurant is on the second floor and has a nice outside porch area when the weather is warm enough to enjoy it that is.
The club lounge was small but accessible 24/7 and had hot breakfast each day and a computer and printer. After hours there was a mini fridge with sodas, water and such. Coffee and tea as well.
We were kindly upgraded to a suite for my 25th stay and my “Platinum Night” with SPG. It was a very nice touch and one of the many reasons I am loyal to SPG.
The room, 1001, is a nice room with a living room, extra bath room and one of the best perks was an amazing view of the city. It was nice to see 3 free waters as zero or no waters is an immediate negative for me for a hotel room.
The first day we had some lake effect snow coming down from back home and ended up with some visitors outside our room 🙂
The desk area was fine, chair was comfortable and one thing that is a must for any desk area is power. I had free internet as a CrossoverRewards member (and not Platinum) but just used my Sprint 4G as it was plenty fast enough via bluetooth and PDAnet+ app.
The master bath was small itself but the shower was good sized and clean.
The view at night was amazing with a clear view of both bridges (more on the way) and the city. I will tell you this, if you want a great view of Thunder over Louisville in April each year, room 1001 could be a great choice (a MUST SEE if you have not been btw). The windows do not open but if it is cold-ish it will offer the best view around in comfort and if warm you can go down to the restaurant patio. Keep that tip in mind and book in advance!
I know there are many road warriors who have no issues making the 50 or 75 or even 100 night stay levels with SPG but just making Platinum for me with SPG was a big deal. I stayed 21 nights and got 4 credits from my two SPG AMEX cards. 3 weeks in hotels is a BUNCH for me and I am looking forward to the perks of Platinum SPG status for 2014 – René
