KLM is warning Flying Blue members about Phishing E-mails pretending to come from KLM when they are NOT! The thieves are getting better and better at making things “look” authentic and with so many marketing E-mails going out each day from the airlines it is sometimes easy to get caught up and just click – so please be careful.
For example, the above one sure looks good but the little problem is that I don’t have an iPhone or any iProduct since I personally am an Android fan. Either way, by just hovering my mouse over the link I can see the real redirect link that I did NOT click on. That is a key, many of these will “get you” just from one click.
It is also sad that so many are uninformed. Take the above “fake” letter that came in the regular old mail to a Skymiles & Facebook member “Andy Ruse” and went on to comment to Delta on Facebook that:
“Scam. Shame you haven’t helped protect your best customers. No info of this on your website. Protect your brand and help your clients with information.”
Now clearly Andy does not get it (Delta is following up btw). Delta did NOT share his Skymiles info with this scammer. It is very much like what I have reported about getting a “free” AA trip in this post. These things are going out in MASS and a large percentage of the population will have a Skymiles account and may just fall for the trap. There are no SKYREWARDS from Delta CORP.
I have blogged before, and Delta maintains an active page warning us about these kinds of things. They have the full “official” list of Delta links (I think DeltaPoints.com should be on that list too but since I don’t work for Delta I don’t think I can talk them into it 😉 )!
The bottom line is please be careful. Please be VERY careful before you click on stuff. It could cost you more than just miles. – René

Airline phishing…that’s one you don’t see too often. Interesting and moreover dangerous.
We were scammed exactly as described. We are senior citizens who lost $1800. Is there any culpability on the part of KLM AIR FRANCE?
@Colin – This post is 11 years old. At this point in history we all should be cyber aware even if, like me, senior in age!
