I have been in so many hotel rooms over the past week that I woke up today, in my own bed, and had no idea where I was. This week has been a blur. It started with a “quick” mileage run to LAX and a stay at the Staybride MKE, then over to the Sheraton Suites Chicago Elk Grove as I am working on stay credits to make Platinum with SPG for 2014. Then, the host Holiday Inn for the Chicago Seminars, then my last night was at the Westin for yet another SPG night credit (review to follow soon).
Basically all the rooms are the same at this hotel. There are a few board room suites but other than that they are all cookie cutter and all nice.
I was extended an upgrade to the club floor and my room was a mirror image of the one I had stayed at before.
The room was clean. The bed was soft.
The bathroom was fine and clean. Plenty of towels and amenities.
Some other thoughts about the room. The air did not work very well and by the time we departed it was cooler in the hallway than in the room. I did not complain as we were leaving anyway. There were two free waters but other than that everything else in-room was extra. The WiFi was free as a CrossoverRewards member and worked fine.
The club room was small but nice. A tip if your key card does not seem to work, move the door handle UP rather than down and you should get in.
There was a PVT computer station for Club Level members and that is always nice.
I could see at peak times this place getting a little crowded but for us it was just fine.
The “continental” breakfast was good (a bit dry) but all we needed and the service was very good by the staff. There seems to have been many seminar attendees doing the same thing I was as the club rep asked if I was one of “us”.
I enjoyed my return to the Sheraton. It is only a few minutes drive from the Holiday Inn Elk Grove and near the highway as well. You can, with good traffic flow, get to the airport in about 15 min from the hotel. A solid choice for the ORD airport area! – René
