Driving to the airport IS the most dangerous part of the trip. Especially if you have to drive to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW). Michigan drivers tend to think the speed limit on any freeway is 90 miles an hour.
I live in NW Ohio near Toledo. It takes me 10 minutes to get the state line with Michigan. Then if you drive to keep up with traffic you will be at Metro in 35 minutes. If you drive the speed limit it will take you about a hour and 15 minute instead of 45.
