I have good news to report. At long last, only months and months since his upgrade, and hours and hours of frustration on the phone, Delta Air Lines did the right thing and awarded him his MQM’s.
I filed a complaint against AMEX with the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and received a reply quickly as follow. The AMEX rep who upgraded me was mistaken (despite 2 hours on the phone confirming with her boss and putting everything in writing). The other rep said there was no MQM boost but refused to put it in writing saying it was an internal memo only, was correct. However, as a “one time gesture of good will” they were refunding the prorated Reserve membership fee and in addition to the prorated refund of my unused Platinum membership fee.
I then took my complaint directly to Richard Anderson’s office. I know you said it was an AMEX issue, but they were refusing to do anything more. Mr. Anderson passed it on to his executive assistant who agreed with the AMEX position that I was NOT entitled to the extra 10K MQMs. After several emails, she awarded me 7.5K regular Skymiles as “gesture of good will.”
Today, I received [an] email from a senior SkyMiles analyst awarding me the contested 10K MQMs!
WOW! I am so happy for you Bob that it all worked out in the end. So, you CAN upgrade your AMEX from GOLD to Platinum or to Reserve, or, you can simply follow THIS advice HERE! – René
