Every time I do a news update, I think we are good for a while. Then a flood of news hits like the next day (Sky Deck anyone).
So here are some of the latest updates you may want to know about:
- Great news for CVG at last. Frontier is coming to town. When they came in to SBN, prices went WAY down on a bunch of routes to DEN. So, and if you have a Buy-One-Get-One-Free from Delta AMEX, you may want to start looking very soon for some killer deals!
- I can tell you I have been impressed as of late with Delta bag handling. Most times, SHOCKINGLY EVEN IN SBN, priority bags both come out (wow) and come out 1st. And in ATL & DTW even flying internationally they come out fast! On-time performance for me has been good as of late as well (they seem to be padding schedules a bit I think). How about you?
- And the AJC has a follow up on the same topic. I have also been impressed with Delta getting out in front of weather issues and allowing many flexible changes. Good form!
- Delta is adding some routes to Burlington Vt., Green Bay, Wis. and Anchorage, Alaska. Never been to any of them but why not. I so want to visit Alaska one day!
- I will never own an Airline stock. Guess I am too risk averse. But others seem to think DAL will still go up. With MQD’s on the way I am not so sure.
- Delta is also announcing the alignment of benefits between each other’s frequent flyer program, SkyMiles and SMILES. I have never visited South America but look forward to that one day as well.
Don’t forget to vote for who is going to WIN the Superbowl for a chance at some iGo’s! – Rene

With your new destinations you can plan a trip to Lambeau Field. Of course, you already could considering Delta flies to Green Bay out of DTW and MSP. You’re right, Alaska is worth a trip. Amazing place. Cruises are well worth it.
@Cory – You know I have never ever had anyone say they regretted an Alaskan cruse. May have to talk to MJ about one soon. Txs – Rene
Cruise vacation outlet MJ?
@Frank R – ah, sorry, my fellow BoardingArea blogger, and self proclaimed “Frequent Floater” MJ on travel: http://boardingarea.com/mjontravel/
Will be interested to see if DL maintains same service levels out of MSP/SLC to ANC this summer or if this flight cannibalizes one of those.
I would consider taking the Alaska Marine Highway (Ferry System). I did that in 1991 round trip from Prince Rupert. It was a once in a lifetime experience. If you are brave enough you can even sent up tents on the deck. But I took the civilized way out and rented a cabin.
I want to do this again but in the middle of winter from Bellingham, WA round trip.
Once upon a time I had to travel to Adak Island for work. The islands are unique and if you can get out to one I recommend the trip. There is a reason they call that area the “birthplace of the winds.” I flew Reeves Aleutian Airlines (RAA) and the landing was a thrill. Time it right and you can see the Northern Lights from your window.
CVG needs something. I fly into Dayton and drive down.
If you fly out of DCA and you are in the Medallion line at 4:30 to check your bags (or have travel issues) they will complete those in the check bag line before they open the Medallion line. I asked a supervisor about this and she told me the Medallion’s should get over ourselves and use the regular check bag line. As a DM, 3M flyer it was a very unhappy Delta moment!
