This time of year my office is flooded with happy newly engaged couples. This is my favorite type of client, which is why I became a Wedding Destination Specialist!
Are you newly engaged or know of someone who is? Well, here is something fun to know…booking Wedding-moons is a growing trend that makes at lot of sense. If you have ever gotten married and had a nice reception, you know there is a lot of cost involved and so many details to attend to. Wedding-moons are a great way to minimize the cost and the stress and get married in a beautiful location!
The couple should first sit down together and write 3 top requirements for your wedding experience. Picture a casual barefoot vibe on the beach? A formal dinner in a ballroom? Or are historical attractions or an eco-friendly rain forest theme something you desire? Once you come to an agreement, then decide on a tentative date and budget. Then make an appointment with your local travel agent. Give them an idea of what you are thinking of so when you arrive they will have some ideas to present and get you some details on your location.
You will want to check on your legal paperwork. Depending on your destination, you may need birth certificates, passports and if applicable divorce decrees. Some locations like the Caribbean require you actually be on the island a few days prior your ceremony, but your travel agent will be able to tell you about your destination.
Wedding-moons can be just the bride and groom or you can have friends and family come along to help celebrate. Have in mind which is best for you because some resorts that are adults only will not allow people of the same gender to split a room at the resort. So if your mom and your baby sister decide to come and share a room together you may need to have them stay at another resort or choose a different resort for everyone.
What can you get with a Wedding-moon?
How about these freebies:
- Free wedding ceremony package including cake, flowers, champagne – everything you need to get married all in a beautiful gazebo on the beach.
- Free wedding coordinator to help you with documentation (some destinations require documents to be translated in the local language) and help with photographer and videographer.
- Free tours and extras…some resorts have up to $1,700 in freebies, from private dinners on the beach, horseback riding, zip lining and sunset sail, and champagne breakfast served in your room. Real perk…these resorts may also be all inclusive which means unlimited free meals and drinks and non motorized water sports.
- Free room when booking 6 or more rooms for your family to join you.
Delta Vacations also gives discounts on top of these for certain resorts when you book several rooms, and your travel agent can coordinate flights from all over the country to your destination and you can pay for it all with your Delta AMEX too!
Its a great way to have your wedding cake and eat it too! – Tamara
