3.5 days, 17,000 miles, 16 legs. I feel a bit strange today. This has been my longest mileage run nonstop and I have picked up a ton of data to share with you on the blog and will do so this month. Some of it will surprise you.
For a while, on KLM flights, I have been handed a blue envelope with a small survey “book” for me to fill in about my flight. I say book as it is a long form. You then seal it and I assume the flight crews do not see the results until KLM corp reviews them and others. I always take the chance to commend the crews as most of the time they do a great job. I also add on the “other comments” part how dumb it is that Skyteam elite members are ONLY given upgrades to business class when the flight is oversold in coach. Why not, just like Delta, offer upgrades to AF/KLM & Delta medallions when the seats are open (at least at the gate if nothing else).
One of the Delta FA’s I spoke to over the past mileage run talked about a new program that apparently Delta is testing. I would love to know if any readers have seen it in practice yet. It is called “SkyBox” and is a chance for us to comment on the performance of the flight/crew/Delta experience and get feedback to corporate much like the KLM program above. I think this is a great idea. Also it does more than just give feedback as I was told that if the review is good much like the “job well done certs” that the crews can be rewarded. Again, just a great idea to motivate good service if the crew knows that a SkyBox survey will be filled out on this flight!
If you do not get a SkyBox survey, you can always take the time to commend a crew by going to the Delta.com web site HERE and filling in the info. Keep in mind you can even access Delta.com FREE via GoGo when in-flight, so if you get good service, why not just open up your phone or tablet or laptop and shoot off a quick commendation about the crew.
Lastly, there were many many moments that impressed me on this last mileage run, but one of the most stunning feelings was one early morning just coming off an LAX-ATL redeye. After breakfast in the “F” Skyclub, I took the escalator down and the sun was just pouring in the windows into the main area. The result, on the grand chandelier, was moving to say the very least. See what you think! – Rene

Is this different from the “customer survey” DL sends me after EVERY flight out of MCI, and after numerous other flights with different originination points?
@Caleb – yep this is very new. I get those all the time for flights and Skyclub visits. – Rene
