I have not been to CDG for a long time. I will be there in November on the way over on a quick trip to Sweden. I really look forward to seeing first hand the changes to the airport and seeing if the place is as bad as I remember it to be. I also look forward to checking out the business class lounges.
We also have THIS new release that Delta will be either adding to, or in the case of CVG not dropping, the number of flights to CDG in 2013. It in part reads:
Delta’s expanded and enhanced Paris service includes:
- New nonstop service from Newark’s Liberty International Airport, complementing Delta and Air France’s existing service from JFK and Delta’s existing service to Amsterdam.
- New summer seasonal service from Boston’s Logan International Airport, complementing the pair of existing Air France flights.
- An additional flight from Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, increasing the total number of daily flights between Atlanta and Paris on the joint venture carriers to four.
- Upgauged and expanded service between Detroit’s Metro Airport, from seasonal 767-300 service to year-round A330-300 service.
How many more chances will this give us for low level business class seats? I am hoping for at least a few. Right now I also have a spring and summer trip booked on low level seats via CDG but don’t expect to keep them that way due to schedule changes that are sure to come. I may try to keep some CDG routes though if this trip turns out nice! If nothing else I may do a stop over in Paris and spend a few more days enjoying the city with Lisa.
BTW – thanks to a bit of dyslexic math, I was thinking the Star MegoDo cut-off date was yesterday. It is tonight at midnight CST so you still have a shot to get in on not just my blog but a bunch of them. Don’t miss out and find out more info below:

one of your tricks you advertise is the schedule change rule, which doesn’t work as often as you say. I’d recommend putting a word of caution to users to not use that as the only way.
@Tyler – Txs for the feedback but I can tell you I have NEVER ever missed a chance for this in YEARS. The key things, that I do touch on in the posts are, booking as far out at you can like 300+ days, also stacking as many regional flights as you can as they tend to change more than mainline schedules and lastly booking as tight a connection as you can to make it work. And as I say, worst case, you end up with lots of “bumpertunites” to take a big $800+ bump and then ask them to change to just the flights you want! – Rene
Take Air France if you can…
Aren’t you a platinum who makes most of your MQM’s on credit card spend, and as such don’t fly too much? As a Diamond, I can assure you I’ve tried this many times before and while it can work, it is not promised and in fact is less than 50%. Also, you aren’t taking into account the chance of having your baggage delayed if you create a crazy itinerary and miss flights. If you weren’t a medallion, I would recommend against this approach altogether.
@Tyler – I don’t live on Delta Jets but do fly a bit. But, even for a 1 or 2x a year flyer, I would recommend my strategy. 🙂
