My aunt in Sweden had radical breast surgery. She was given just months to live. She survived for almost 10 years and I cherish my memories of her. She was a Neurologist and I respected every word she told me growing up. One of my favorite “awwww” stories that I have been told was of me saying to her, through her closed door when she was sick, “I love you much more than you love me since you will not let me in“! Clearly, I loved my aunt Ulla in a special way.
I have great care and respect for anyone who has fought the terrible disease of breast cancer. We, as Delta flyers, can brag and hold our heads high that our airline has a “Pink Plane” and that Delta employees care so much about this cause (do you see any other PINK planes?). Recently Delta dedicated the plane and said:
In memory of BCRF Founder Evelyn Lauder, Delta’s Boeing 767-400 signature ‘pink plane’ will be dedicated at New York’s LaGuardia airport in a presentation attended by her husband, Leonard Lauder, BCRF Acting Chairman and Chairman Emeritus of The Estee Lauder Companies, as well as BCRF staff.
I can tell you the flight to NYC was a hot ticket with 180 breast cancer survivors on the flight and some Delta employees. One of them, whom I have great respect for, shared with me what a moving experience it was. I wish I could have been part of it.

I hope you will visit THIS link at Delta. And if you need a Skyclub membership and join in October, 10% of the fee will go to help the cause! You can also buy PINK lemonade inflight in October with 100% being donated (I will be sure to do so on my mileage runs and post photos along the way) – Rene
PS – let’s do this today. If you have ever donated to help stop breast cancer, comment below. I will use random.org and give away 10 of the above pink pins and include a Delta Points luggage tag as well!

A close family friend is battling breast cancer that has metatasized to her bones. My daughter and two grandchildren have formed a team in her honor in the Run for the Cure to be held on Sunday, Sept 30th. If anyone would like to help their fundraising effort for Breast Cancer research, here is the link to their team donation page

@Sharon – txs for the comment, the work and the link! – Rene
I always buy several pink lemonades on board when they offer this, even when I am upgraded to first! My wife’s best friend lost her mother to breast cancer, so we are all about this cause.
@Cheryl @Nick – my thanks! – Rene
Yes, I’ve donated. It started years ago. As a kid I used to collect Yoplait Yogurt tops from all my friends and send them in so that those 10 cents per top need not go to waste.
As a breast cancer survivor, I want to thank you for this post — it actually brought me to tears. Thanks to everyone supporting this cause!
@CU – a big Delta Points HUG to you. – Rene
