So the reason for my latest trip was to see my generations of Hungarian (on my dad’s side) family. Gen 1 (great mommy and pappy) came over from the old country. They, and my grandma and granddad are gone. There is just one from the Gen 2 level and he’s 89.
The first day was at a yacht club in Philadelphia and we had a great cookout by the pool and the views were just beautiful as you can see.
Then the next day Lisa, me & my dad headed over to tour one my favorite places I have yet to visit. The US Mint in PHL. (Oh how I miss thee, mint coins :-))
The tour is FREE and self guided and you are not allowed to take photos inside, but from the brochure you can see inside on the wall is art work by Tiffany. Amazing. The tour is very kool and you should go if you can.
For dinner, what else, but a Restaurant.com coupon and it was a home run! I want to stress this and why I love this concept so much. I would never dream of just looking at all the restaurants in PHL and saying” “Let’s go to the Mexican Post for dinner”. Lisa, my dad & I went due to the coupon and many times we find other neat “stuff” along the way.
We drove by some great views of downtown PHL that I would not have seen otherwise as this place was no where near where all the family events were going on.
And I would not have had a chance to see this old Grumman aircraft turned into a greenhouse had we not been at the Mexican Post just around the corner.
We also had a chance to stop by a local chain called Rita’s for some “water ice” and no, I did not go for the “sour patch kids” flavor. (I like Piña Coladas…).
So this wraps up the perfect flights on Delta, the perfect rental with Hertz and the less that perfect hotel stay with Four Points. It was great to see the family and will be back there again in 6 years for the next one! – René
