My first report from last Sunday was mostly about the trip. This one is more about the city of Gothenburg who is the little brother of the capital Stockholm. Compared to Stockholm, Gothenburg is a “small” big city. There is a ton culturally to see from Museums.
to shopping on the main street called Avenyn.
And a view from the museums down the same street.
The city has some very old and nice architecture
and is the home of the college bearing the city’s name. It is funny to my American ears to hear them call college “high school”.
There are fortifications overlooking the city for cannons when the mean and scary Dane’s would go-a-viking and would need some discouragement!
Anther nice place at the other end of Avenyn is this square.
It is near the “old town”
that has some very kool little shops
where they do leather work and hand blown glass
and a nice place that makes hand made chocolates nummy!
One of the best places to go for fresh seafood is the “fishing church”.
and the entrance with me, mom and Lisa
There are many venders inside and even a cafe up top in the building where I took this photo
Shrimp, crab and lobster are cooked on the boats in salt water and are served cold, never HOT like here in the states. Most of the time you shell them as you dine!
I love the fact that you can take a tram anywhere in the city as you see Lisa waiting for our next ride.
We ate at some of my favorite place like the “Prag” that makes a better schnitzel than the one I had at FRA 1st class terminal
another great little Italian place was this one “Pasta Contorni”
But at last it was time to go home again.
and we again connected in FRA on the way home.
It was kool to have a man with a sign with our name on it as we deplaned with a Benz waiting to drive us back to the terminal.
Then a short rest before the flight home in the 1st class terminal.
So 1st trip to Sweden this year was fun. I will fly about 30,000 miles this year as I still have trips to Myrtle beach, another trip to Sweden this summer, a flight to my family reunion and a few this fall / winter I have yet to book.
I am just about to jump on my next round as my points have dwindled all the way down to the 2.1 million mark. I plan to spend about 1/2 million very soon to book my 25th wedding anniversary cruise/air/hotel for next year. Nothing says I love you and want to spend “forever with you, my best friend” like burning a huge amount of points – right? – Rene

Gothenburg looks and sounds interesting and appears so clean.
Great trip report. I never made it out to Gothenburg when I visited Sweden but it looks nice.
I was always confused about European “College”. Wait so they aren’t in high school? Just figured that one out a couple years ago.
