Weekends are time to relax but also time to make sure you are getting the most out of your DELTA partnership you can. Web sites are built by geeks like me (well sorta like me anyway). Us geeks think geek. We think the way we make something is simple, clear and logical. Then a user try’s it and says, “that is so dumb, why did they do it this way?”. In some ways DELTA.com is clean and nice, in other ways not so much.

So today let’s look at a part of the DELTA web site you may never have seen. Your “manage my account” page:

As you can see this page has lots of links for you to play with and update and I hope you take the time to do just that including passport and credit card info.

But what I want to focus on is what is in it for you today. Please look at the VIEW YOUR PROMOTIONS link.

Here you will see I have at least one promotion I have yet to register for. Some of them you will never ever fly. But register for all of them. With DELTA “IT” you never know when some flight might just give you an extra 5000 or 25000 skymiles! And, many times you will find there are some good promotions you can take advantage of.

So today is short but sweet. Take some time and get to know DELTA web site – René

More free stuff! Today I am giving away a dual time zone watch to a random comment so just say hello or anything (by 10PM EST) about the blog below for a chance to win.

Finally! I’m a CVG hub captive, and there’s not a lot of blog love for Delta. The Points Guy is doing more than his fair share, but there’s a lot of heavy lifting to be done there! It’s so great to finally see someone who can share some advice, insight, and well…let’s face it, since it’s Delta…misery about all things DL. Just added you to my RSS feed. Booyah!

Rene…please do your follow up post about Delta MQMs. My life has gotten a LOT better since making DM this year, but as a leisure traveller, maintaining that status (or any status!) is a constant battle. Looking forward to more of your thoughts.

I value Skymles at 1-3 cents each. Why, if you know how, to be able to book a $3000 biz class seat to Europe for 100k is great value. That and the fact, that as you say, the come as cheap as Pesos? Thus the great value IMO.

I agree — sign up for every promotion… alot of them have a while to run and you never know if you will earn it. Never ceases to amaze me the many people who are booked on promotion-eligible trips who have not signed up and miss out on the bonuses.

Here is my tip…know the reservation/information number of the airline you are traveling but more important if you can speak another language, or someone in your party can, know that direct number. A regional airport in Los Angeles shut down leaving all Southwest airline passengers stranded. The southwest gate agent was bombard with angry people. Calling IFLYSWA was just a busy signal. I had my friend who speaks Spanish call 1-800- VAMONOS (the Spanish line for SWA) and we got through immediately and booked on the next flight out of LAX.
